It has to be Demarcus Cousins.

He's big, he clogs the lane, and lays the punishment to any resistance.

Easily the BIGGEST and most UNDERRATED D in the league.

I know the metrics read out a hell of a lot better than his counting numbers and reputation does. And certainly better than his highlights do. Defense has always been hard to calculate. Yao Ming was a guy that always seemed underrated as a defender because he didn't block a ton of shots, but it always seemed like when guys played against him they'd veer from the basket more than usual. I've seen Kirk Goldsbarry do some shot chart work that tried to visualize that effect. Something like Shot Frequency from various areas against a certain player, tied to FG% vs. League Avg FG% from those areas. It was interesting stuff.

A big problem Boogie has though is that the maybe one mental letdown per half, or whatever it is he may have, adds up to enough to counter whatever good he may be doing. JR Smith has a similar problem. There are spurts where he looks like a good perimeter defender. Problem is even against good defense guys are gonna score. And when you let up something completely uncontested, like a backdoor or something, it's amplifies the fact that your good spots are streaky.
