It has to be Demarcus Cousins.
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/DRPM/position/9
He's big, he clogs the lane, and lays the punishment to any resistance.
Easily the BIGGEST and most UNDERRATED D in the league.

Cousins' D is rated just fine. Small and ineffective.

lebron's D is the most underrated.
When he goes soft, obviously it looks weak.
But when he erects himself and gets in there, it's over.

it has to be lebron.
-Shut down d rose in the ecf
-Shut down parker in finals
-Defends the oppositions best player (i.e. melo, durant)
-Can guard 1-4 (a bit of 5)
-Does this all while being an elite offensive player.
Many more but im too tired to think.

LeBalds...it's underrated how terrible it is. He's still touted as a potentional DPOY candidate yet he's probably the easiest player to blow past in the league(including centers). I never understood why, when he finally decides to closeout/contest a shot, he does it like 3 seconds after it's thrown up.

A couple of those were his teammates not providing adequate help defense after LeBron gets beat. The 6th one, Love should've switched onto Kawhi. The others? :facepalm :facepalm Harden level defense.
I've seen Beasley shutdown players a couple of times. If dude could exert energy and is actually willing to play defense, he'd be a very good defender. He doesn't though and he's a Nash level defender.
Most underrated would be...Bosh? His help defense is terrific, even though he can't do shit again big men man-to-man.

He's not really underrated. Dude got a ton of credit for completely turning around the Cavs' defense.

Under rated - Danny Green - Watch Game 3 of 2014 NBA Finals. Shut down Wade all series
Kyle Korver
Gordon Hayward
Tiago Splitter (when healthy)
Mike Conelly
Over rated - Tony Parker - On B/R they rated all point guards using some point system and gave tony a 13 of 15 score on D. SMH.

I admit he had the potential. I've seen him locked in at times and he does a pretty solid job, very good defender no? But an above average defender if committed? Yes.

I would say Kyle Korver but statistically he's a pretty alright defender. There's a reason why his career has lasted this long. 3 and Defense.
