I've definitely seen some mixed opinions on here about the campaigns of the series so I'd like to see your opinions on this

IMO for me it goes

1: Halo CE
2: Halo 2
3: Halo Reach
4: Halo 4

I'm not sure where to put ODST as I haven't played it in a year or two but I play the others excluding 4 frequently. CE over 2 was tough for me because I really like 2's campaign, but I think it has more to do with the faster gameplay and movement than the actual design and story of the levels. At the end of the day Halo CE's campaign is just too good. The first 5 levels are amazing, specifically from 3 to 5.

Barely played the campaigns but I remember Halo 3 having a really fun one. I played Halo 1 campaign with a friend. We spent one night beating the whole thing on the lowest difficulty level.

All of these Halo forums are making me feel old now =/. Haven't played Halo since maybe 2011?

You were 1 when Halo CE came out

It was a revolution to console gaming

Kids like you wont see anything in it simply because you didn't experience it when it first came out. Back then games weren't like they are now. Everything today has been built by the work and structure of past games. God bless.

How can you honestly put 4 above 2?

4 has absolutely no flow, and the level design is horrible

ODST sucks, stick to 3 over it

One of the easiest things for me to do.

1) Combat Evolved - just revolutionary. One of the greatest moments I'll ever feel playing a video game. it was a stepping stone for the gaming industry. I had goosebumps entering Halo for the first time and throughout the entire game I was just amazed at what I was playing. So many memorable moments.

2) Halo 3

3) Reach

4) Halo 4

5) Halo 2

6) ODST

I never actually finished Halo 2 or ODST. I started Halo 2's campaign about 10+ times and always got bored with it at almost the same spot. The beginning really had me intrigued and switching Master Chief and the Alien race was well done. I haven't touched that game in over 8 years now though.

Halo 2 campaign was game changing.

That's when I really became hooked on video games.

1. Halo 1 - You can't really top the original. Just played the remake and it was still great.
2. Halo 3 - I absolutely loved this campaign, the level "the Covenant" is my favorite campaign level of all Halo; that level had everything, main characters dying, epic twists (the flood and Halo being reborn), and some truly epic battles.
3. Halo 4 - I know a lot of people hate this one, but I personally loved it. Thought the Didact was a great villain, liked the new guns and powers, I just enjoyed it a lot overall.
4. Halo 2 - Still a fantastic campaign, huge fan of the boss battles against the prophet and against Tartrarus, it was just a setup campaign however for Halo 3.
5. Halo Reach - the last level was pretty epic, just a literal battle till the death. My problem was the campaign though was that it was just so different from the other Games gameplay wise. It is worthwhile to play it though.
6. ODST - I missed Master chief, I also got lost quite a bit. Good campaign, just a tier below the rest.

I was going to agree with you on Halo 1, but then I remembered that endless library with The Flood. But everything else was incredible.

I didn't care all that much about missions with the flood, minus the first time you discover them

Halo 3 definitely has the best level design out of all of them. Just think about the scarab fight on the Ark when you have 3 tanks and a few warthogs charging down the hill. It epitomizes the sandbox level design that made Halo so damn good. They got away from this in Halo 4. Too linear. Not enough variety and options. There is just so many ways you can attack scenarios in Halo 3. Makes for a unique experience every time you play it again. I felt the weak part of Halo 3 was the story... It was good in some spots, but it was basically the conclusion of Halo 2. Halo 2 was supposed to end with the portal to the Ark opening, but they got rushed and cut short. It would have been amazing to see how much better Halo 2 would have been had it been completed. Still in my top 2... Simply for the story, the gameplay and ally AI. Also the difficulty makes it a worthy challenge to complete.

Yeah, the story probably could use some work, but the insane action made it great. Halo 4 campaign maps did seem a little condensed, not as good as the Halo 3 ones. And Halo 2 on legendary with my brother was the best, so hard and irritating but fun at the same time.
And FYI, including multiplayer and everything, Halo 3 hands down is the best

That's why I love Halo 2 just simply because it is a challenge on Legendary

Like the first moment on Cairo Station in the hanger full of elites that can kill you in literally 1-2 seconds.... Shit is real. Also loved the boss fights. Regret took me a long ****ing time after I realized you can't really beat him by playing it safe and continually run back to the door. Also had some epic moments like the huge battle between the elites and the brutes in the last room of Gravemind...

Shade doesn't get it because he didn't live through it

Much of Halo's rep has been shit on due to Halo 4's obvious disappointment

Those that lived and played through it know how great Halo is. Simply the Michael Jordan of the console world. It cannot be argued. There was no bigger game franchise from 2000-2010.
