Sheridanhoops and a number of tweets speculating on Tristan and his one year qualifying offer verse a long term deal with the Cavs.

1) He wants to play in TO

2) LBron seemingly on record saying the Cavs need him back.

The QO is quoted as being $6.8Million.

The long term deal is "speculated as being" $15 - $16 Million per.

Interestingly Patterson's deal at $6050 is within cap striking distance if a sign and trade were entertained.

A deal could be made if he signs the QO ?? I think it is allowed.

Tristan 8.5 pts 8.0 rbs 0.5 ast and a PIE of 9.7

Patterson 8.0 pts 5.3 rbs 1.9 ast and a PIE of 9.9

Jballer you're a great poster but your misuse of quotations traumatizes me lol.

Also Tristan Thompson is overrated. Cavs don't even need him so I don't get why he's holding them for ransom.

Tristan is a lunatic. He probably expects money like JV got, so it's a big no.

JV was already paid and he is a better all-around player than Tristan. Maybe if he takes a hometown discount at $12M per year, which he won't.

If Tristan signed the QO "I think" the Cavs can trade him at that salary.

i.e. $6.8M

It would be a 1 year deal / trade for Patterson.

Long term money is a legitimate question. If you did the one year deal it supposes you are trying to keep him. Home town discount / JV money / something.

Given the rise in Cap and the new series of contracts projected I think there will be a lot of Tristan type players in the NBA making $15 Mill a year.

$15Million + maybe the new "Bargnani money" type deal (was $10M). An "interim amount" contract for a guy with potential but things to develop and prove. I think that is what JV money is all about although JV in theory is more valuable than Tristan.

The good teams will manage these "contributor" contracts as not being long term.

$12Million is too low for Tristan given the money being projected. Look what we signed and paid for Atlanta free agents...

I think I would bring Tristan here to play the PF with JV not instead of JV. Perhaps there would be rotation and back up minutes.

Tristan may represent a kind of Amir+ which worked out very well for the Raptors in the longer term perspective.
