I'm getting it to use for Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign learning. I know nothing about nothing when it comes to Apple products (but good with PC's).

I want to get a used Macbook Pro. I hear the retina display looks awesome, but it messes up Photoshop (something about pixels for webpages). Should I get a retina display one or a non retina display one?

Not trying to break the bank. Want to spend under 1k total. Seems like I need something that is i7, 8 GB, SSD. Sounds about right?

Suggestions?

Or, I might go this route:

Apple Mac Mini MGEN2LL/A Desktop (NEWEST VERSION)
Apple MC184LL/B Wireless Keyboard
Apple Magic Bluetooth Mouse
AOC E1649FWU 16" USB-Powered Portable LED Monitor (already have this)

Come out to $780

This is not a bad choice.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but can anyone tell me what Apple TV can do aside from just allowing me to play all my shit on my TV? Is there anything cool I'm missing?

For photoshop and web design an Apple product is better and Im saying as an advocate that always says Apple is overrated.

You are basically putting phone apps on your tv. You can also link your tv to your phone or mac and have them mirror each other. Nothing crazy, but it's only like 70$.

However the new model and next update will more expensive and is being talked about as a cable replacement, where you presumably get channels. We wont know the details until it is released.
