Halo is easily the best. That game emptied my high school every time a new one came out. I can understand why people would like GTA more, but as for which game is better, you need to say Halo. Halo, clearly a different game, did more with less content. Just look at all the big RPG sandbox games. They always get overrated, while FPS always get underrated.

Not to mention GTA was multi platform so it's sale numbers need to be put into perspective when compared to Halo's. Halo 3 sold 15Mil on ONE platform. Yes. Literally.

Halo saved a whole console, and carried it against the super team Playstation. Halo went up against Playstations best in it's prime, the likes of MGS and Final Fantasy, and absolutely SMOKED them out of the park.

It's close, but I put Halo slightly higher above GTA due to it's revolutionary impact and one man console carry. Of course, GTA never got the chance to carry a team, but we don't put Bill Russell over Michael Jordan.

Yeah don't see how you can categorically say one is better. I like both franchises but personally prefer GTA if I had to pick one. I'm sure halo was mind blowing to console gamers at the time but a lot of what it did had already largely been done in pc fps if you already played pc games.

Sorry but the PS2 killed the xbox so I'm not sure wtf you are talking about. You could also argue halo's numbers are inflated due to having a user base with nothing to buy. Also GTA depending on which GTA versions you are talking about they were not always multi platform just like some halo games are mutli plat (pc).

GTA 3 started as a ps2 exclusive, and had a huge impact in selling ps2 consoles early on.

Of the 2000's, it has to be COD. Just in terms of the following it has, and the sheer amounts of people that played it, and still do. It may not technically be the best, but just be sheer popularity, and time spent playing, it would win easily.

Because they are better then most sandbox games. I would agree with RDR but seeing as it's a Rockstar game it's understandable that it would be an improvement over previous GTA titles.

Halo only has linear mission. Kill aliens, move forward, kill the next set of aliens. There's nothing wrong with it but it's such an odd thing to complain about when trying to prop up Halo.

The winner? Zelda or Halo or GTA or MGS or knights of the Old Republic.. these are my top 5 series choices.

Giving #1 spot to Halo because it's part of 1 continuous awesome story.

GTA is not one single story but a conglomerate of different short stories with each game completely different (not that I would enjoy a single character in all GTA games but the stories are simply not as deep as Halo or MGS). If MGS1 had released in 2000, I would select it over Halo. Only exception here is Final Fantasy.. I loved all Final Fantasy -- especially 7, 8, 9 but they released in 90s

The 2nd one was actually arguably better than the first when you added all the deleted content that was cut from the game being rushed.
