Never had a deep playoff run during his most prolific scoring years (2005-2007), so we've mainly have only seen a sample size at best of of prime Shaq-less Kobe in the playoffs. When Gasol & co. arrived, his supporting cast was strong enough that whenever Kobe had an efficient scoring output in a playoff game, there's a good chance there were enough team-round contributions that the game went into garbage time and they could afford to sit out Kobe before the furtherance of his scoring volume.

I'm more surprised that LeBron has not one 50 point playoff game.

It looked like he was going to register his first against the Nets in Game 4 of the 2014 playoffs, but the prospect of a 50-point output was pressurizing enough that he missed his last free-throw attempt in the game (when he was fouled strategically in the waning minutes of the game). :oldlol:

russell > horry > kobe

how many times did Horry average 20 ppg during a championship run or make the all nba team or get close to winning an mvp or fmvp

Ironically, Allen Iverson has the fifth- and sixth-most efficient 50-point playoff games. :wtf:

Damn, I remember watching the 2001 Iverson game against the Raps when he hit 8 3's so vividly. That playoff run was probably my best basketball memory. Only shot 2 FTs too which is kinda crazy.

:wtf:

Wilt's 50 point game against the Hawks in the WDF's ranks third if the rest of that list is correct. He shot 22-32 from the floor, for a .688 FG%.

BTW, Bob Pettit had a 50 point series clinching game six in the 1958 Finals (on 19-34 shooting.)

The second most 50+ point playoff games in NBA history, and you consider him a "choker." BTW, three of them came in "must win" playoff games, and one of those was against Russell.

And for the record, in Wilt's "scoring" seasons, he racked up 11 40+ point games, in his 52 playoff games in that same stretch. Oh, and five of them came against Russell. And, as a side-note...he faced Russell in 30 of those 52 games.

In any case, a "scoring" Wilt scored 40+ in 21% of his playoff games.
