so as i read, the salary cap on 2016-27 is around 89m (esti.). If Dwight opts out next year, he can resign with rockets for a 5yrs contract, starting at 29mil/31/33/36/39mil.. probably below KD and Lebron, but more than AD...
so rockets fan.. is it worth to sign him at that price while he's 30 with all his injury history..?
are u guys going to keep a 3x yrs old C with injure history with 3Xmil dollars contract?
good luck.

He's a multi-millionaire with money that'll continue to come into his bank account from endorsement deals while he's retired. He's not going broke if he manages his money well (which he's proven to do since he's not a frivolous spender).
His baby momma's all get a percentage of Dwight's money, which still leaves him a very rich man. He's not clamoring for an extra couple million dollars in free agency to pay any bills.

Dwight has never drawn attention to his children by himself, that's all media propaganda for a quick story. He's not worried about them being financially secured and neither are most of the mothers of his children.

Dwight Howard just got off a postseason averaging 16/14/1/2/1. He was easily the best center in the 2015 Playoffs.
There's really no point in me going in depth on why he's still great in today's league because it's been said a million times. If you still think Dwight wants to be the number one option on a team then you're stuck in the year 2013. He's a great teammate and a great paint presence.

Of course he's worth it. Dwight's one of the few players who turns any team into an instant contender.

If Dwight comes back next season and proves he's healthy then he'll be worth a max contract, but even at that he'll take a paycut to stay with James Harden, Hakeem Olajuwon, and the Houston Rockets. He's worth more here and can accomplish more here than anywhere else.

no, he's not. dwight is not worth a max anymore.
Dwight is only 29 years old. If he has a bounce back season in 2016 then teams will be offering him the max. Dwight is still and elite shot blocker, rebounder, and finisher around the rim. Mind you the max is only four years if he were to sign for another team.
Dallas would offer him the max.
Atlanta would offer him the max.
Pretty much any team without a center worth the max will offer him a max contract.
The biggest question marks about him are his knees (which he proved were fine in the postseason) and his attitude (Rockets players can attest to him being a great teammate and hard worker).

I don't understand your thinking, he has an outgoing personality and is huge. He'll obviously get endorsed after he retires, it's freaking common sense.
If you're gonna question someone, at least sound somewhat intelligent in your response.

he isn't an elite shot blocker, nor really finisher besides at the rim. he's not an elite defender consistently anymore either.

How is linking to his networth proving your point?
He's not a transcendent player. He's not funny. His peers hate him. He's second fiddle on his own damn team.

Trust me, I watched him kill the Mavericks and Clippers in the inside on both sides of the ball. He's still elite.
During the first two rounds of the 2015 Playoffs, Dwight averaged:
17 ppg
14 rpg
2.5 bpg
59% from the field
That's still elite.

You must really have a stick up your ass to think that it takes all that to make it on a commercial. Dwight is seven foot with freakish shoulders and a wide smile, if Dikembe Mutombo can get be a partner of State Farm then it's possible for any notable player to get a deal of their own.

Dwight will have no problems getting endorsements unless he pulls a Colorado. He's always smiling, appears enthusiastic, and has been the most featured big man of the NBA in the last decade. Magic->Lakers->Rockets is good for marketing, it's not like he plays for the Spurs.

you see, the way i see it, if he thinks he is that u claimed who he is, i highly doubt he will ever take a pay cut.
there's no way in hell to ask him take a pay cut at his final big contract.
tim duncan took paycut at age of 35, dirk took pay cut at age of 33. Dwight is hitting 30 and the salary cap is hitting big this coming season. He has this and last chance to go for big and now u are expecting him to lower/keep his salary at 20mil when he can ask for 30mil? u know TT is asking almost 20mil, and u think Dwight willing to get the same salary?
from my point of view, there's no way he will take a paycut to play along with harden and Houston.
so, good luck.

Stop being a dumb homer. How many old players are in commercials? Shaq and MJ. That's pretty much it.
Mutombo had a gimmick that fit a commercial campaign. He's a hall of famer who's still very active in the NBA.
Stockton in the State Farm ones doesn't count because he's just an add-on to modern players that are the stars of the commercial.
Dwight is boring and sucks. He will disappear and go bankrupt. Nobody wants him as the face of their company one he is retired.

Look at the final four in the wcf last season. All had one thing in common, a dominant defensive center

Someone will offer Dwight the biggest contract possible if he plays at least 65-70 games a season.
Both for his play and popularity with fans world wide.

Lol Dwight gets disrespected so much. Of course he gets the max.
He absolutely dominated in the 2014 playoffs.
And last year he put up 18&14 on 59% against the best defensive center in the league. Josh Smith took more freaking shots than him.
He needs to get the ball more.
