All the miscontextualization in this thread... :facepalm

He wasn't even referring it to individuals; he was doing so for teams in general, and it's obvious he was just paying homage to the stacked Lakers and Trailblazers teams of the Western Conference Finals pit-off. If it was contrived, it's subtle and certainly going out of his way to do so by acting thrilled about watching the the two teams

Post LeBron quote and take it out of context.

Kobe stans bread and butter. Or in this case... dirt and piss.

The kobe army is using water guns. Come up with some better material.

"If you don’t know the history of the game, man, you’ll forget how many great teams didn’t win championships. And that doesn’t mean they wasn’t great, though."

That was the full quote, and he's right.

Bull ****. That's beta. If a team doesn't win a championship, they're not 'great'. They're losers. They may be better than the other losers, but still losers. If you're not first, you're last.

Edit: There is an obvious agenda here of LeBron trying to explain his 2-6 and make it sound good. If he doesn't feel horrible about his 4 losses, he's a loser. He needs to have a problem with 2-6, not justify it or joke about it.

Well yeah, sometimes your team faces injuries right before or during the Playoffs, fluke shit happens like Ray Allen shot in Game 6, 2013 Spurs were a GREAT team that just shat the bed when they should have had the ship locked up. And some years, the league just isn't as good. 2007 Spurs aren't on the same level as the 2004 Pistons or 08 Celtics.

Yet somehow LeBron fans always seem to be "owning" kobe stans in a lot of these debates.

I'm on the fence, and a KD fan. So I'm really not biased, but good god do the LeBron fans lay the smackdown on some of those brain-dead, jack*ss kobetards.

There are a couple anti Kobe fans that crack me up though. mrjabbar isn't even a kobe fan, he's just playing a character acting like one. I've exchanged pms with the guy and hes blatantly told me hes a lebron fan, and its all just a joke to him. (sorry to out you like this bro, but itll only add to your character... so you can deny it, and that in and of itself will be funny, so dont trip)

He's right in a sense, but at the same time you just can't imagine guys like MJ, Bird, Magic, or Kobe saying this. Lebron is competitive, but doesn't come off as obsessed about winning like those guys.

Come on. MJ was arguably the GOAT competitor, but this is what he said right before the '91 Finals about the prospect of going ring-less in his career:

"It would be disappointing that I never won, but my career would never, ever be disappointing. The success I have gone through, with the friends I have met, the experiences that I have been through, the game would still be as fun and remembered for me even if I never win the world championship. I would much rather win, but if I don't, I'm not going to look back at my career and say it was tarnished because I never won a world championship."

LeBron would've gotten MURDERED if he ever said something like this in 2011 or before winning in 2012. And the criticism from everyone would've been the same - "MJ would never say this".

I came in here to post that very quote. It was in an interview with Pat Riley. MJ repeated the same thing right after winning his first title in 1991 in this interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbfEig4bZS0#t=9m49s).

The idea people are bringing about that only championship teams were great teams.... that would mean that every champion in NBA history has never beaten a great team :coleman:

tough situation for lebron to put himself in. im sure it was hard to navigate around this question, but for a guy with as much clout as him, he should be particular in what questions he answers and how he does it.

you cant be touted as GOAT by your fans and go around saying things like this.

Honestly, I've never seen that quote so I stand corrected. I must say that's a bit surprising given the narrative about MJ's hyper-competitive nature, I wouldn't have expected that from him hence me saying I couldn't imagine it. And funny enough, we've tarnished so many great players since who never won titles, whenever there's an argument about GOATs.

MJ always said shit like this. He was pretty humble before back-to-back 3 peats.

Only person who doesn't say shit like this is Rapebe.

He was telling ni99as he would be 5 or 7 time champion and pass Jordan on the all time scoring list when he was 18 years of age.
