Only parts of it unfortunately, but it was an elimination game, the Philly crowd was really into it, and the play was intense with lots of good highlights, including Maxwell going after a fan. Also shows that Bird would have no problem with today's athletes, because that Philly team had loads of athletic players, and Bird was still making all sorts of plays.

Crazy-ass series, definitely one of the best of all-time... Took seven games to decide the winner, most games came down to the wire, many clutch plays, extreme physicality, competitive spirit through the roof, sheer passion/hustle, you had two stacked teams, lots of tremendous talent out on the court, two top4 players in the league...

Gotta say that sometimes it gets pretty overlooked but Bird's off-ball movement was a thing of beauty.

Oh, and RIP Darryl Dawkins.

Yes, that man is very underrated; he's definitely a top5 all-time defensive forward, plus a good rebounder, a nice while very effective scorer, solid passer, hustled a lot, gave everything he got, great teammate, class act and never dirty out on the court, really impactful player, has plenty of accolades... Shameful that he's not a HoF'er by now.

but you can see that the game has evolved so much. These teams are playing more of a playground game in the video, but by today's standards that's sloppy basketball.

And it don't matter bird had no problem with philly's athletes since nobody is playing good defense in that video, that's a good old fashioned physical all-efort no tactics smash mouth basketball game. In today's game that shit would be exploited real quick. You put bird in today's game and he is getting exposed for his defense. This comes from an 80s fan too. Just calling a spade a spade.

that was some putrid defense. Horrible post defense, not protecting middle. Non existing perimeter defense. People keeping their hands down. People biting stationary pump fakes. People refusing to box out. And these are just the most basic fundamentals.
They was just packing the paint and hoping a big body is enough.

You see much better defense than this in a random jazz - orlando regular season game.
