I'm a little surprised they'd add two classic Heat teams but it makes sense. I find the 2006 team more interesting than the 2013 squad, so I'm glad to see them make the cut. Also nice to have another opponent from the same general era to battle the 2004 Pistons.

There are still two more classic teams to be announced. It'll be interesting to see where they go for these last two. I would guess a 2005 or 2003 Spurs team would make the cut but I'm blanking on who they'd have held out for the very last spot. I thought the 2003 Nets would have been great but it seems they'd wait to introduce a more popular team. I guess it really could be a Gasol/Bryant/Bynum Lakers team.

The new squads so far:

2000 Raptors
2000 Blazers
2001 Lakers
2003 Mavericks
2004 Pistons
2005 Suns
2006 Heat
2008 Rockets
2008 Celtics
2013 Heat

Still no 2002 Kings? They were included in NBA 2K12 and 2K13 but when Webber supposedly couldn't agree with 2K on continued use of his rights, 2K pulled the team. 2K13 actually didn't have Webber on that squad but they still offered the team up as an option. Would have been nice if they kept them on board like they did with the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar teams.

Hope they have all (or at least the rotation) players in the teams. For all we know we might get Heat without JWill/Toine etcThat's a good point regarding all the new classic teams. 2K tends to have rosters with between 8-12 actual classic players. They usually get the rotation guys down, though; Nick Van Exel and Rick Rox were two of the few I can recall not being included, in terms of the semi-bigger names.

Hopefully, if we have to be missing some, it's guys like Wayne Simien and Paul Shirley.

I dunno how familiar you guys are with the 2K app game, but anyway I'm pretty sure they have a Rick Fox and Jason Williams card, and the developers stated they can only use players that 2K has the rights to

Don't recall a Walker or Van Exel card

Is this part of the classic teams or whatever? I don't play the game, but I find it rather funny the 06 team made it. In my opinion, even as a Heat fan, we were one of the worst championship teams in a while. I find there was a big drop off in terms of basketball for a 3 year period from like 05-07...

I guess teams were still stuck trying to play that horrible offense that somewhat worked against the most restrictive defensive era in history, and there was no fluidity or aesthetics in the game right after.

Just my opinion.

Just my opinion.Yeah, the 2006 Heat are one of 12 new classic teams in NBA 2K16. All 12 are from the year 2000 on forward, so considering some of the other new squads that have been added, I think they fit in a bit. I mentioned the others on the first page but I'll past it below for easier reference:

2000 Raptors
2000 Trail Blazers
2001 Lakers
2003 Mavericks
2004 Pistons
2005 Suns
2006 Heat
2008 Rockets
2008 Celtics
2013 Heat

The last two teams will be revealed next week. Interesting to contemplate which two teams best fit in that scheme. I'd guess an '03 or '05 Spurs team but I'm less certain on the other. I wouldn't be pumped about seeing an '09 Lakers team but I feel like that's a real possibility. I'd prefer a fun one such as the 2007 Warriors. Even a prime Jason Kidd throwing lobs to Kenyon Martin on the 2003 Nets would be pretty cool.

I agree, and personally I've always felt the '05 team was better. That year was the best combination of Shaq and Wade. Shaq was still an MVP caliber player and Wade emerged as a bonafide superstar. If not for that damn injury in the ECF......

2001 Kobe was as good as any Kobe. Certainly his defensive peak, and was his offense really that much better at another point in time? Fresh legs too.

He is just overshadowed because he played next to 2001 Shaq.

the 2004-2005 Heat team was way better and even might be better than the LeBron championship teams. Just got screwed over with injuries to Shaq and Wade in the postseason.

Shaq literally had an MVP type year that year and playing that many games might have burn him out for the postseason. After 2000 Shaq generally played like 60 games a year.

Aren't they doing one east one west team?Dang, I didn't even pick up on that pattern. That's what each week has been so far? That could be good news because I was worried about another Lakers team (to go along with the 2001, 1998, 1991, 1987, 1972, 1971, and 1965 teams).

Hopefully that means a 2005 Spurs squad and maybe a prime Jason Kidd Nets team. Though, revealing the Nets as one of the final two classic teams seems a little anti-climatic; I'd be okay with it, I just wonder if 2K was saving two legitimately great teams for the end.

What other East options from the last 15 years could there be? We already have:

2000 Raptors
2004 Pistons
2006 Heat
2008 Celtics
2013 Heat
2001 76ers (Previous entry)

Missing finalists: 2000 Pacers (Reggie Miller has been historically resistant to inclusion... though that could change), 2002 & 2003 Nets, 2007 Cavaliers, 2009 Magic

I see the final two teams either being
West
-09 Lakers
-05 Spurs
-04 Timberwolves

East
-03 Nets
-09 Cavs
-00 Pacers

I could see them announcing Pacers last and revealing that Reggie is replacing Kerr as commentator or something like that

They've confirmed they've replaced Steve Kerr on the commentary but haven't announced with whom. That'd make for quite the reveal in multiple regards.

How about the 1967 76ers? 61 Warriors? They need to go the route of old college basketball games....For players you can't officially get, replace them with a made up player with the same stats

Never got why they'd bother to add the Bucks without Kareem....Just make the Royals since you have Lucas :confusedshrug:

I thought 2K12 was really on to something when they had the 70's and 60's filters, baskets, and rules. I'd welcome more old school teams from that era if 2K could re-institute the feel they'd established a few years ago.

I'm kinda surprised to see people agree that the '05 Heat was better than '06. I've always felt I was in the minority on that one, but I guess that's because casual fans automatically assume the team that won a championship must be better. The '05 team was very reminiscent of Shaq / Kobe Lakers, mainly because Shaq still somewhat resembled his Laker self. His decline became a lot more evident the following season (though he was obviously still very good).

As a Heat fan, the '05 season was probably the most exciting season ever. Of course '06 ended better, but it was amazing seeing a young Wade emerge as a superstar along side a still dominant Shaq. They had such a great chemistry together, almost from day one.
