1998 - strike/lockout looming for 1999

Jordan retires prematurely. obviously still wanting to play ( came back for the wizards and messed up his resume )

jordan all year said "this might be his last season. but nothings official"

2016 - strike/lockout looming for 2017

kobe obviously still wants to play. "this might be my last season. but nothings official"

yall think a guy wants to ink a 1-2 year deal and spend his last remaining years in a lockout/strike?

nobody wants that sh*t

it all depends on the CBA and if a deal can be reached.

Kobe is about to pull a Michael Jordan

He's been doing that his whole career.... or at least trying to do it, and ultimately falling well short. :lol

Theres about 10-15 guys between the two, depending on who you ask.

Kobe came as Jordan was leaving... and he basically copied everything about his game right down to the personality and persona.

Of course people gonna be like... "he's the closest to Jordan we've ever seen"

Kobes the only guy who copied everything about Jordan.

So Kobe wins the Jordan impersonation contest.... but too bad there's still a dozen guys between the two on the all-time list. Hehe.

Yeah, because Kobe didn't put up similar stats to MJ in his prime....

And you're delusional if you think Kobe is not a top 5-7 player in the game with everything he accomplished and how long he played at such a high level...best player on his team in 5 out of 7 Finals runs (excluding 00 and 02), 5 rings, all the NBA teams and defensive teams....he's the 2nd best SG of all-time and is hailed as the greatest Laker of all-time by guys such as Shaq, Magic, West..

You're delusional if you think kobe was the best player on FIVE of his 7 finals runs.

He was the best in 3, and won 2 rings as the best player on his team.

This revionist narrative you Kobe nutjobs have manage to contrive about the Shaq-Kobe dynamic is insane

32/7/6 through the WC Playoffs, best player in 3 out of 4 series, Shaq himself saying Kobe's the best player in the world that year...

2004 Kobe was clearly the #1 guy and shaq was putting up Pau Gasol numbers through the first 3 rounds, we all know about the Pistons letting Shaq eat and focusing their defense on stopping everyone else

2008-10 he's obviously the best player

04 Shaq first 3 rounds - 20/14/3/3blks on 58% shooting....13 FGA

04 Kobe first 3 rounds - 25/5/6 on 42% shooting....20 FGA

Kobe chucked 7 more shots to score 5 more points. Made 1 more FG while chucking up 7 more shots.

Kobe definitely had a better series against the Spurs. They both were mediocre against Houston and Shaq was clearly better against Minni and especially the Pistons. Overall, Shaq was the better player.

BTW, when was Pau ever putting up 20/15/3/3blks on 58% shooting? :wtf:

Because Kobe was putting up struggle year Gilbert Arenas numbers.
