Is the Yankee Cap the single most popular sport attire item in North America?

You can find somebody anywhere in North America wearing one. Not so much here on the east coast, although as a fashion item it is still pretty trendy. Places like hicktown USA and large Canadian cities it's a huge fashion item. I travel all over North America and I've never seen any sports attire as universally worn and trendy as a Yankee cap.
Can anyone think of another item that could be bigger? Jordan Jersey perhaps?
How about overseas? How big is it there?

It's not like everyone has one but it's (literally) easier to find a Yankee hat than a Japanese baseball's team's hat in Japan. My son wanted to find a Baystars hat (they are the Yokohama team, my wife and her family are from Yokohama) and we couldn't unless we went to the stadium store near the stadium. But the sports stores have Yankee hats. (and Lebron jerseys, that's also easy to find).

Its not the rappers but they made it famous. It was highly popular before the rappers. People wear those hats when they are new.

I prefer the worn out look of the hat but you can't get the official hat because they shrink.

Trust me, they dont. Its a fashion thing. A lot of people wear caps of sports teams they never heard of and still probably dont even know they exist.

There was a skit on a tv show here when a guy was wearing a blue dodgers cap, and a American guy came up to him and asked him "Oh, you support the Dodgers?", and the guy was like "u wot m8?".

If it was the color scheme then why hasn't the Detroit Tigers apparel blown up to those proportions? I would say it should be bigger considering the letter D has more implications than NY. Plus a nicer font. The Yankee cap is a pop culture fashion trend.

no jersey would ever be able to be compared to a hat, which some people wear every single day.

The Yankees hat is by far the most popular "sports logo hat". Would be interesting to see what number two is though. I honest'y can't even make a guess.

If Jordan shoes count as "sports attire" then that would be that. Or some kind of shoes. Anything people can wear everyday.

Haha yep. Down mostly any street in NYC though, you will find someone wearing a Yankee hat. I grew up being a hardcore Met fan (don't follow baseball anymore). Mostly because the tickets were more affordable and it was much closer stadium to where I lived.

This is like saying Bulls gear is popular currently in Chicago :oldlol: Of course if a team is good in a city, their hats will be a best seller. Phillies even won a World Series. I bet you they aren't too popular right now, as the Phillies are rebuilding/tanking/GM sucks.

I think the Eagles and then Flyers would be more popular than the Phillies in Philadelphia. Just my opinion though, can't stand philly teams :lol

From the 2000's to now, I'd say that the red B for Boston(Red Sox) has become #2 go-to cap behind the Yankee NY blue/black.

I think it's more than just "bandwagoning" sports fans cuz the Boston B caps outnumber the Patriots caps. I'd say more people even wear LA Dodger blue more than Lakers cap as well.

Baseball logos and scripts are really beautiful and a lot of them are centuries old too, which makes it more impressive.
Yeah I agree, many cool logos from the older teams. My favorite team is the White Sox, many folks think that Sox logo that is popular was right now was created in the 90s but it first came out in the 50s. The White Sox would change their look every decade or so but the current logo (which like I mentioned earlier is a throwback) has proven so popular that they haven't changed it for almost 25 years.
