Not as bad as all the people that die from cancer after doing chemotherapy instead of using Cannabis oil.
****ed up world we live in.
Why vets are blowing their heads off in the parking lot.
It's already come out that the VA 'accidentally' (purposefully):
~Changed appointment dates of dead vets to make it appear as if they just didn't 'make it' to their appointment day.
~Changed submission dates in order to keep up with the new mandated 'maximum amount of waiting days' to be seen.
~Sent numerous letters to patients informing them they are dead.
~Sent personal information to the wrong people.
~Lied, and then lied about lying.
On top of that, they have been found to discard vet records in janitor closets, accidentally locking one patient INSIDE the hospital as they all left, leaving paralyzed patients alone for extended periods of time.
It's all good for those who work there though, they're government employees, they can't get in trouble. They'll schedule you your appointment within the 30 day period allowed, then cancel it, and schedule you a new one.
The most amazing part about all of these issues that came out of the VA, is NOBODY was held accountable? How many were fired from all this? A few?
So far, Griffin's report - which is incomplete - shows that managers at 13 facilities lied to investigators about scheduling problems and other issues, and officials at 42 of the 93 sites engaged in manipulation of scheduling, including 19 sites where appointments were cancelled and then rescheduled for the same day to meet on-time performance goals.
Typical government work right there. Lie about it, and kick the can down the road. What else is new?

That means I can see a doctor faster at the VA since there will be fewer patients waiting to be seen

VA is overloaded as shit. Knew some people who worked there and they ended up quitting because they couldn't provide good quality of care. Just too many people to treat and not enough staff. Mental Health never a priority in this country :(

That's the issue they are avoiding. The place is always packed with retirees. A lot of them with minimal medical problems, but abuse the system. I see it every time I go there. The place is disgusting too.

IG report: 300,000 vets died while waiting for health care at VA
Headline goes further than news article.
News article goes further than IG report. (http://www.va.gov/oig/pubs/VAOIG-14-01792-510.pdf)
IG reports says
However, due to the data weaknesses identified in
Allegation 1, we cannot determine specifically how many pending ES
records represent veterans who applied for health care benefits or when they
may have applied.
That is to say they found 300,000 records not necessarily 300,000 deaths due to waiting on medical care. For example here is the only example of one of those 30,000 is a where the death occurred in the early 1990s, but the record is still open.
[QUOTE]The following is an example of a pending record where the SSA Death Master File reported the individual as deceased; however, the HEC did not detect or enter the date of death in ES. According to the SSA Death Master File, [B]an individual died in October 1993. The HEC

This one's a complete failure. Democrats, Republicans, both houses of Congress and the White House administrations going back decades...they all fail our vets hugely.

This is basically a giant database screwup and you can't tell if that screwup has had real world impact.
Elsewhere in the report the VA says that it can only accept certain official notifications of death. They had a different standard before that caused different problems and HAD real world impacts, people were getting doctor's and hospital appointment cancelled becuase the system had them as dead.
off course having a screwed up database would prevent you from effectively tracking issues.

You can't blame Obama for this alone, this is the responsibility of every high ranking politician dating back to Vietnam. Once the bodies are done fighting the war the suits started they don't give a half a ****.

It pisses me off so much for both parties, there isn't a demographic that the right should care more about than vets, and they don't do shit. The left cares more about non-citizens (illegals) than it does about the people protecting their weak asses.

OR
It's completely misguided to frame it as a government not caring for the vetarans. The society doesn't care, not the goverment. You don't care.

I would say our politicians care far less than the public does.
You have weird leftists and hippies who dislike the military, but rarely have I ever actually met someone like that in person. Only on places like ISH will you find that.
Politicians make it worse by acting sympathetic for votes. Like Obama's stance on gay marriage pre-election. For votes.
The Establishment can say and do what they want for votes, then do the exact opposite and nobody will call them out on it. Except Trump.

Trump will also change his views for votes. He's already done it during his campaign when compared with statements from his past. Why did you think he wouldn't? There's too much financial pressure on these candidates not to flip.
Surprised you have never met people disliking the military in person. There are a huge amount of those people in San Antonio. Military is a part of the culture here since everyone goes through one of the bases at some point. It should be noted that people hate the people in charge of the military, not the soldiers themselves.

Oh yeah Trump will flip too. He knows the population is too stupid to care. Like the Romans and their games... Keep the masses distracted and say what they want to hear.
I was in San Antonio about four months ago. Seemed military friendly. Air force class was just graduating. Of course I wouldn't really know the feelings of the military there because I don't look like I was a marine, minus the tattoos you can't see.
