It's like nobody remembers how ****ed and shady that series was to make it so the Sixers even beat the Bucks...Ray had one of the best runs of an sg period that playoffs...and shit all over the Sixers. Iverson for these playoffs averaged 32.9ppg on 30.0 shots this playoffs...it's funny how stories can decide rewards. AI had absolutely no business being given the MVP over Shaq...yet it was the story of the year...the Sixers that season with Zo (the 2nd best player in the league) out for the heat that entire season...it's frankly pathetic that Iverson could possibly win an MVP at any point in his career over a prime Shaq...just disgusting how the politics are.

Ray Allen shot 54.9% from the 3pt line and 95.7% from the 3 pt line.

I remember this being series being hyped up as a "rematch" of Ray Allen and Allen Iverson in the '96 Big East Championship.

Ray's shooting puts them into pretty comparable territory. Iverson did make up for his lower efficiency however with more points, rebounds, assists, and steals, as well as an amazing series clinching game 7.

I guess since neither of these guys won titles for these respective squads people sweep it under the rug?

Pretty much...after Zo went down and the Heat were eliminated from any kind of contention...people were looking for ANY team to do anything in the East that season...and whole collective latched onto the Sixers and Iverson speficially...making him much more than he was. The Sixers were a defensive team first and foremost and he was one of the least effective players in that regard for the team...yeah. He scored the most points though, on shit efficiency, while taking by far the shots...but he was a "superstar'....I'm sorry, but nobody was ever overrated as Allen Iverson in this 2001 season...really...MVP over Shaq? LOL???............

Because we are old enough to know how great Ray Allen really was before he ever ended up in Boston :confusedshrug:

So it's not really a big deal IF he in fact outplayed A.I.

This is Jesus we're talking about yo.

The only thing Ray looks to have over Iverson is shooting percentage. When I get a chance I'll watch the series, but knowing that Sixers team I can say the role of the primary scorer for their team between Iverson and Ray are different.

AI got hit hard by Raptors' players in the previous series, especially the one Charles Oakley did in game 7. And Bucks was trying to do the same thing too. AI was hurt so bad that he even had to sit out game 3 during ECF. So whatever AI could give the team, it was already an extra, let alone putting up 30 pt 5 reb 6 assist and 2+ steal and seal the deal in game 7 putting up 40+ points.

Whoever saying Ray > AI after seeing that stats = never really watched the series.

AI is a player that you got to watch him play to appreciate, not just the box score.

****ing this. The refs weren't letting the Bucks advance to the Finals that year, even though they were the better team. Series was a travesty.

You always sh*t on Kobe and you were an AI fan this whole time? That's hilarious. I especially like the last line.
