View Full Version : Where will ESPN rank Kobe for this coming season?

Last year he was ranked as the 40th best player, but after falling well short of expectations I think he will be ranked much lower going into this season. Will ESPN place him in the top 70? discuss

around 140-150 or so

but i see him having a good season

23-24ppg
4-5 rpg
4-5 apg
42-43% fg's
60-65 games

so hes more around top 10-15 IMO

Any particular reason you think Kobe (a year older and more injury prone) will return to all star status this year? Last season the guy was one of the top 5 negative impact players in the league according to all advanced metrics. :confusedshrug:

kobes field goal % went down because his team mates were sh*t

if you have decent team mates youl have a bit of pressure taken off you

like lebron in miami... his colluded team enabled him to shoot over 55%... then it dipped a bunch in cleveland.. especially in the finals

kobe was basically forced into taking difficult shots every time instead of just sometimes when needed

so if anything i fully expect kobes % to not only be 42-43%.. but thats the bare minimum

he can very well get it around 44-45%

the additions of randle/hibbert/bass/lou williams and the newly established jordan clarkson

that should more than make up for last years lack of offensive fire power

prime lebron just shot under 42% for the playoffs

Kobe at the same age 56% TS while averaging 30 ppg and winning the title

Lebron at the same age 49% TS while averaging 30ppg and losing in the finals

kobes struggles were team and injury related

hes had a while to rehab/rest and regain his knees

his achilles is probably way stronger now.. more than its ever been. and going based on the last year possibilities. i dont see him holding anything back

kobe was playing with prime gasol, odom, bynum, fisher and being coached by phil

lebron was playing with a third string pg, christian thompson, some wind defenders, and being coached by some rookie euro coach

and still put up much more points than your boy kobe's finals ppg average on similar percentages

6ppg and worst starting pg in title history

ok

odom was never an nba allstar. hes just "good" sometimes ...

gasol is the lowest ranked 2nd option of all time by a multi champion

85th all time on BBR HOF rating

Bynum averaged 6 & 4 :oldlol:

Fisher was garbage

and

how do you explain Lebron averaging 46% TS in the chicago series with Irving playing every game

:lol

Probably in the high 70s low 80s. As a Kobe fan, I am okay with any rating that ESPN offers. Kobe is coming off a rough season. Whatever rating they offer, we have to deal with it and move on.

I am a huge lebron fan but I won't pretend like he had a good shooting post season. He sucked dick this playoffs from 3, midrange, and basically everywhere on the court. He tried to do too much and did not play within his game.

This thread has nothing to do with Lebron. Why are Kobe stans ALWAYS trying to move the goalpost? Lebron nearly just won a championship with one of the weakest finals rosters of all time, and Kobe stans really wanna compare that to the historically bad season their boy just had? :facepalm

Kobe ranks among the worst players in the league this season in a number of categories:

• 124th in field goal percentage (third-worst among qualified players)

• 103rd in 3-point percentage (fifth-worst)

• 74th in player efficiency rating

• 361st in win shares
The Lakers are 14 points per 100 possessions better with Kobe off the court this season than they are with Kobe on the court. Among all players with at least 1,000 minutes this season, only Kobe's teammate Jordan Hill has had a more negative effect on his team's production than Bryant himself.

dont worry, ive never seen one of the resident ISH kobetards address this. they have excuses for everything:

but but but PER is bullshit! David Robinson had a higher PER than Kareem! Thats because DRob is one of the GOAT regular season performers and Kareem played 20 seasons.

but but but christian thompson had a higher ws48 than lebron these playoffs! ok, how about their PER, BPM, VORP this playoffs? how about for their careers?

but but kobe takes bail out shots and takes difficult shots!! lebron takes and makes more bail out shots. kobe has a low bball IQ.

thanks for playing

lol Delly completely shut down Curry for the first half of the series. Curry would drop 40ppg with Fisher on him.
