View Full Version : How good can Victor Oladipo get?

Spending more time at shooting guard with the drafting of Elfrid Payton opened the door for him to attack more off the ball while still being able to create. After the All-Star break, Oladipo performed at nearly a 20-5-5 clip, shaking off a sluggish November-December where he looked out of sorts. Now he could be ready to truly elevate, especially since his long-range shooting has become respectable (34 percent from 3-point range last season).

he could be an all-star this year

the magic should have better spacing with hezonja knocking down threes, giving oladipo and payton more room to penetrate

i think hes a star in the making

Multiple time All star. Maybe a couple third teams at his peak. I'm big on the kid but he's no superstar in the making.

Not a super star. I see him as a two or three time all star but primarily as a really good second option.

With his inability to dribble, I worry if he can to that in the NBA consistently.

spot up shooting requires good/great dribbling? http://i.imgur.com/EBVao5Q.png

How good can he get?

he has the physical tool and the mental capacity to probably be a 6-8 time all star just as well as making it close to the 2nd team.

who's going to really remember him IF he knocks down those 3 pointers in the 4th quarter in a close game situation.

he doesn't come off as the type of player where he exhausts himself on the defensive end and becomes limited as a more off ball player on the offensive end. I would say that his passing may remain limited due to physicality, which might not be able to be improved with ball handling/dribble penetration skills. his low post game won't be reliance on foot work, but the ability to get the shot off, which still translates into points in the paint.

the thing is that he plays the passing lane way too well, which also justifies his innate basketball instinct, I think it would be fair to say that even if people were to find me overrating him and his potential, ask any coach who may have the luxury to coach him, and they would say that Oladipo can be a main factor as to how one were to call a time out or not. Unless they had already determined him not to be a part of the franchise's future.

Cody Zeller on the other hand, while going from college to the professional has exposed that there is a greater differences in muscle reflexes. And while his natural weight is still yet to be determined, a lot of his success may be determined from his timing on the defensive end, and the ability to draw fouls with his offensive repertoire as a decent FT shooting big man.
