Everybody here is clowning on kobe when payton and malone joined his team, but the funny thing is, the celtics team that kobe beat, they made lebronze quit in his home town....how do you explain that? I'm a huge lebron fan btw

Lebron sabotaged the series with that game 5 performance 3-14. Cavs were up 2-1 with 2 blowouts :oldlol:

I know you're a big Lebron fan, so I won't badger you about it.

Instead of 1 player doing all the drive and kicks (Lebron, CP3's teams, etc), the best brand of basketball in today's game is when ALL FIVE offensive players are running drive and kicks (i.e. the Spurs, Warriors), just like the Bulls used to post up ALL FIVE guys in the triangle (back when post-ups were optimal over drive-and-kick) - these are equal-opportunity offenses.

Lebron's ball-dominance and lack of off-ball ability prevents his teams from playing equal-opportunity and the best brand of basketball, which gives equal or less-talented opponents the opportunity to pull upsets by playing a BETTER brand of basketball (2009, 2011, 2014).

Compare that shitty scenario to MJ's optimal scenario - MJ's elite ability as an off-ball player allowed his team to run an optimal, equal-opportunity offense, and therefore the best brand of basketball, which prevented less-talented teams from pulling upsets by playing a better brand of basketball - MJ's teams never lost to teams of equal or lesser talent.. EVER

Sure, what type of offense is harder for a defense to stop over the long-term??... Would it be Lebron's low-assisted, highly predictable ball-dominance that doesn't let teammates assist him:

Or MJ's relentless off-ball game which opens up assist opportunities for teammates thus increasing the playmaking capacity of the team, while also fostering a wider range of equal-opportunity, strategic options that are far more unpredictable:

Lebron fans avoiding this thread like the plague. The one year Lebron got exposed fully as a choker and vindicated the Kobe-lead Lakers as a GOAT level team. Three straight finals with the 3rd one being a rematch against the same Celtics who beat them.

I watched every Laker game that season and truth be told everyone was counting the Celtics out because the Cavs won like 66 games or something that season. Then they beat the Cavs and have all of these superstars and the idiots at BSPN pick them over the Lakers (I believe 6 out of 7 "NBA experts"), which were all members of the press; not former players, coaches or execs.

Lebron and salty Boston fans stay losing :facepalm

Those stats would rank in the bottom 15% of MJ's playoff career.

There isn't an MJ fan on the planet that would be satisfied with those numbers from MJ..

Because they were a much better team than the usual caliber of Eastern teams he was used to facing, even though they were past their prime as a squad. If you look at the all time conference win%, 2010 was the only year in the past 15 seasons where the East wasn't a complete dumpster fire.

https://nbcprobasketballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/image3.png

As a result, the 61 win Cavs couldn't get out of the 2nd round whereas whenever the conference was a complete joke... his squads could sleepwalk to the Finals, even when they were depleted like this past post season. The 2010 Celtics would've shit all over a Kyrie and Love-less Cavs squad.

Kobe wasn't all that great against the Celtics either, he doesn't win that series if his teammates don't step up in game 7. He was a pathetic 6-24 shooting in that game. Wade was the one who destroyed Boston that year.

Wade payed better aginst the big 3 Celtics than Kobe or Lebron ever did. He put up 33/7/6/2/2 on 56% in 2010 and followed that up with 30/7/5/2/1 on 53% in 2011.

That's fine and game 7s magnitude is a lot more than a game 5 but Kobe was great in game 5. Dropped 38 including 19 in his unstoppable form in the 3rd quarter. If his team showed up, especially Gasol, the series doesn't even go 7.

It's ok if you don't like Kobe though, whatever I said will mean nothing.

Oh I know, but for shits and giggles, to compare Wade and Lebron's supporting cast in 2010;

Jermaine O'neal averaged 4.2 ppg on 21% fg. :oldlol: :facepalm

Lebron had THREE players (Shaq, Jamison, Williams) average more ppg than Wade's second option (Chalmers).

Chalmers was second on the Heat in apg at 2.6. Williams was second on the Cavs in apg at 5.5.

Wade's supporting cast collectively shot 41% Lebron's shot 45%.

etc,.....
