Australia is a weird country. In my limited experience, they seem to be politically illiterate.
Their anti-gun stance is weird too, to say the least.
Don't look at their politics with an American lens because they actually have some of the safest communities. Why would they need guns?? when there isn't the same need to protect yourself as other jurisdictions.

That's what happens when you have mandatory voting. Most people don't give a shit about politics, and that's fine, whatever floats your boat, but forcing these ignorant morons to vote is harmful.
Reminder that Tones LITERALLY stopped the boats..
Reminder that Labour did this exact thing before the last election and got their asses handed to them.

Agree with this. We've had a succession of bad leaders but they get elected on the back of a trendy campaign that gets the people who don't follow politics to vote for them who are the same people who then turn on them once there's a trendy social media campaign to make fun of the same person they voted for.

Newscorp papers are the most widely read here too. Coincidence?

LMAO I was asleep during most of it last night, woke up and we got a new Prime Minister
Abott is without a doubt the one of the dumbest person I've seen, let alone the prime minister.
Based Gillard wins again.

He is actually very intelligent, but a poor media performer.

From my extensive experience, I'd say it's one of the best and more enjoyable places to live in the world.
There isn't an anti-gun stance. Citizens can apply for a gun licence and own guns, and many do, including myself.

Pro-gun laws are really working out for you guys
Bu, bu, but its every man's right to defend themselves
Think there's more killing than defending tbh

This.
His speeches are cringeworthy. Normally I don't really care how someone speaks, it matters what they say.
But in Tony's case, he has to speak well or it reflects bad on Australia. He is probably the worst figurehead public speaker I've seen in a long time.

I think Australians think their country is publicized more than it actually is. I have asked many Australians why tony Abbott is bad and they can't identify any real policy decisions he's made the past two years as to why he's bad.
I don't think stopping the boats is necessarily a bad decision. I dislike him because he's classifying 457 holders as non-residents for tax purposes and he's bombing Syria.
"He sounds dumb" isn't a reason for disliking him which seems to be the only thing his detractors can name.

Here's a little secret for you. The numbers for legal gun ownership in Australia is exactly the same as it was before the "ban" on guns and the number of illegal guns is even higher. There are more guns in your country now than there were before the ban.
If you feel like Australia is a safe country, the availability of guns has nothing to do with it.
