Duncan. He's a grump to the media but his he's always x players favourite teammate. Only cares about the team, plays a brand of basketball that meshes with everyone.

Others include Korver, Butler, Bosh, Davis. And Manu (flopping aside).

Edit: and George Hill and Tyson Chandler.

The most likeable, or the one player that "no one really hates"? They're two separate things.

Most likeable is probably Curry.

The player (other than a twelfth man that no one has heard of) that no one really hates... Andre Miller?

Fire Colangelo
09-17-2015, 03:17 PM
Define likeable....

Because a lot of the guys that's been mentioned kinda fall into the "don't really give a shit" category to like or hate.

Who cares about..... Mirotic for example? Does Kawhi/Butler even have stans outside of their team fan bases?

How many non Spurs fans will tell you their favorite player is Duncan compared to Kobe/Lebron? Doesn't that make Kobe/Lebron more likeable than Duncan since more people like them?

Some players I found that were universally liked by fans were guys like Mcgrady, Ray Allen, Brandon Roy, etc... Guys who had flashy/semi flashy games without a polarizing personality. Obviously there were haters/ppl that criticized them but not as much as Kobe/Lebron.

If I had to pick one now.... Maybe Kyrie?

if he didnt goad other players into punching him all the time, everybody would love him.

Kobe Bryant. He's one of the last of the old school basketball generation. Can't stand this Facebook generation that wants to be best buddies and hang out and have "emoji battles".

yet, when all the clipper drama was going down, kobe just had to insert himself for no reason at all, other than that he craves attention.

he is so desperate for people to think he's this alpha-male, winner. but that desperation undermines his persona

Everyone who says Anthony Davis is pretty spot on, I haven't really met anyone who doesn't like him. Perhaps the only fans who wouldn't like him are Spurs fans because he denied them the #2 seed in the playoffs.
As for anyone else "currently" in the NBA, I'd say maybe Tim Duncan, but I think that might have more to due with respect than with likeableness (although I'm not saying that he ISN'T likeable)

Federer is BELOVED around the world - no matter how hard the Nadal and Nole stans wish it wasn't so.

If op means likable (as in not hated) - not most popular, I vote for Dirk. Not great enough to be threatened/bashed by Kobe and Lebron stans (as Duncan is) but loyal and hardworking.

Just give it a couple more years and he'll have plenty of haters on ISH. Durant was pretty much universally liked around 2010 and 2011 and Curry was pretty much universally liked up until last season, and now they've got haters on ISH.

Curry, Davis, Adams are all good answers.

I'd throw in Kyle O'quinn too. Not as well known as some others but he always seems like a really down to earth cool guy to have around. Also Dirk is a very likable player too, the only way I see people hating him is if you are heat fan but that should be more a dislike out of respect than hate.

Yeah, I enjoy having him. He plays hard, doesn't do much talking, does anything he is asked to do. If they need him to be a distributor, he tries his best to do that or if they need him to score, he tries to do that like he did last year. He's the ideal professional, every good team needs a guy like him.

I'll just talk about players on my hometown team.

I've always heard a lot of praise from commentators and players about DeMar DeRozan. Probably has to do with his upcoming and work ethic. Also helped out on getting DeMarre Carroll and others to the team and helped to get an interview with LaMarcus Aldridge. No major free agent had ever done an interview consideration for Toronto ever before that. It wouldn't even be brought up during the VC and CB days.

So while he is a frustrating player on the court with his consistency, he's definitely a good kid and has the right approach.
