Atlanta Hawks = Al Horford, or it could very well be Millsap or Teague, a very balanced team filled with third options. But I think Horford is the most important. I don't know if he is a vocal leader but the whole team is very reserved so I suppose he is the best choice.
Boston Celtics = A very young team, so David Lee is the obvious leader for this team.
Charlotte Bobcats = Hornets? I would say Kemba Walker, seems like a vocal leader and is their second best player.
Chicago Bulls = Joakim Noah? Seems like he is always directing his teammates on defense at least. Derrick Rose is too laidback to be a leader and he doesn't even play anymore so I'd venture a guess with Gasol being their offensive leader
Dallas Mavericks = Dirk of course.
Denver Nuggets = I don't even think they have a leader.
Detroit Pistons = Probably no one, maybe Jennings
Houston Rockets = Harden.
LA Lakers = Kobe
Memphis Grizzlies = Gasol
Milwaukee Bucks = Parker
Minnesota Timberwolves = Garnett
New Jersey Nets = Lopez
New Orleans Hornets = Anthony Davis
New York Knicks = Melo
Oklahoma City Thunder = Westbrook
Orlando Magic = Oladipo
Philadelphia Sixers = :facepalm
Phoenix Suns = Bledsoe
Sacramento Kings = Cousins
San Antonio Spurs = Duncan
Toronto Raptors = Lowry
Utah Jazz = Hayward

Atlanta Hawks = Budz and Horford
Boston Celtics = Brad Stevens, maybe some influence from Jae Crowder and Smart
Charlotte Bobcats = Kemba
Chicago Bulls = Still probably Rose
Dallas Mavericks = Dirk and Carlisle
Denver Nuggets = Faried, and probably as much Jameer Nelson as anyone else in the locker room.
Detroit Pistons = Van Gundy. Especially after cutting Josh Smith last year.
Houston Rockets = Beard, but almost by default. I expect Ty Lawson to command a lot in that locker room sooner rather than later
LA Lakers = Kobe obviously.
Memphis Grizzlies = Gasol
Milwaukee Bucks = Kidd
Minnesota Timberwolves = Garnett
New Jersey Nets = No one really. Joe Johnson is clearly the best player. I bet Thad Young commands more respect than anyone else though.
New Orleans Hornets = AD
New York Knicks = Still Carmelo
Oklahoma City Thunder = Durant still
Orlando Magic = Probably Elfrid Payton since he controls the rock. I know they thought Oladipo's persona was gonna rub off, but it just hasn't worked out yet
Philadelphia Sixers = There's no one there ready. They're probably hoping Karl Landry can stay healthy enough to get the kids to listen to someone who's been around.
Phoenix Suns = PJ Tucker has always seemed like a guy who was really respected on that roster. And I know he just got there, but Tyson Chandler has always been a pros pro, and the fact he got ousted out of NY says more about their situation than it does about him.
Sacramento Kings = There's a full blown power struggle going on right now between Karl and Cousins, that I know they're all trying to get on the same page. If he's happy, Rondo will grab the reigns, but when he's not he's a cancer. I'll be Caron Butler and Reggie Evans still generate a lot of rspct in a young locker room.
San Antonio Spurs = The Triumverate of Players and their coach are all on the same page and steering the same ship until one of them decides otherwise. It's the most stable organization probably in all of sports.
Toronto Raptors = Lowry has always had a commanding personality even beyond his skills. And there really isn't anyone there to challenge him.
Utah Jazz = It's probably Gordon Hayward by default, but it's not really a job for him in spite of his being a very good player. I'm sure they're hopefull it's Exum, but I don't see it yet. Trevor Booker is the probably the most respected Vet.

Sorry for being objective. I know that's not how you fit in here on ISH...

I guess I'm a bit of a rebel in that regard.

The coach is the inherent leader of any team by virtue of the impact of their role; if that impact is outbalanced by one of their own players (see: LeBron during the Mike Brown era), their seat will warm up fast. However, who is the leader among peers on each roster?

I'll try to interbalance two indispensable leadership qualities here: impact on their team and their locker-room vocality.

Atlanta Hawks

No clear-cut leader here. There have four creditable All-Stars, but none of them have been been distant outliers, production-wise.

The Hawks's glaring hole is the lack of a transcendent superstar to elevate his team's level of play when they need his transcendence the most; that was magnified in the playoffs, where they've underachieved in the first-two rounds while ending up inevitably swept by the Cavaliers team that's led by the the exact archetype they're lacking.

A superstar isn't categorically indispensable; after all, the Spurs

LA Lakers

Easily Kobe Bryant.

He's on his retirement cusp and is only a shell of himself; he might not even be their best player for that matter, when you factor into shooting efficience and defensive work. However, who else has the experience and win-at-all-costs mentality on this lottery-bound team?

As a five-time champion and the second-best Shooting Guard of all time in the eyes of many, the rest of the team is immediately receptive to his advice, and they would find it insulting if they were asked who was their leader while the esteemed Black Mamba is still donning a Lakers jersey while stepping onto the court.

He has been notoriously abrasive on his teammates at times, and speculators attribute the lack of free-agent talent to his continuing presence; but that cited harshness is also what pushed his teammates to give full-bore effort, as we've seen career years of many of them while playing with him.

Even after the incumbent leader retires this following season (presumptive), the talented cast of rookies and sophomores aboard will still need more team to develop to even land in the discussion of that role.

Memphis Grizzlies

Marc Gasol has done more than enough to merit this role. He may not crack the stratosphere of superstardom, and he doesn't exactly run away with the role on-paper; but the two-way force and one-time DPoY has proven to be their most impactful player, as the Grizzlies became questionable as even a playoff-clinching team before the Spaniard returned from a knee injury last season.

Moreover, he's been the exemplar for the grit-and-grind culture that has kept the Grizzlies relevant. Whenever the Grizzlies sneak into HCA-seeding segment of the standings, who else do you see in a Grizzlies uniform that is mentioned in MVP conversations?

They'll likely need truly transcendent superstar to catapult to the next level of championship contention; but as the roster currently stands, there should be no question to who leads the way.

Milwaukee Bucks

Another young team that has under-seasoned talent, but they were bolstered up mightily with the fringe acquisition of Greg Monroe. Even with him, however, the leadership role is uncertain while the young talent is still blooming, in addition to Monroe's lack of assimilation with his new team so far.

Once Monroe gets his feet wet with the team and hopefully continues his improvement at the tender age of 25, he is bound to be the closest-to-acceptable placeholder of the leadership role; but even then, this is a team that'll need to stay well-coached to stay relevant, as any player in that role for the next-few years will be too substandard to accomplish the efficacy needed from any viable team-leader.

Minnesota Timberwolves

While they have one of the best Power Forwards of all time aboard in Kevin Garnett, who also has a rich history with team starting off as a 19-year-old draftee, the 19-year veteran doesn't even whiff the benchmark of production for this team.

Still, with a glut of young talent and his mentorship role, his lockerroom presence can not be under-stated with a lottery-bound team that's only started to complete a full season of rebuilding. It's hard to conceive that he started playing in the league before some of its current players were even born!

His role as the incumbent leader would suffice if I really had to pick, but it won't last for much longer at all
