Amir Khan confirms talks with Pacquiao camp

September 21, 2015 3:57pm

Former world light welterweight champion Amir Khan has confirmed that negotiations are currently taking place for a potential showdown with Manny Pacquiao next year.

Khan, who shares the same influential adviser Al Haymon with Floyd Mayweather, told fighthype.com that members of his team are all on board to make the potential bout a reality.

"A fight against Manny Pacquiao would be a great event and a fight I would really want," said Khan.

"Al Haymon, who advises me and looks after my interests, also likes the fight and hopes the fight can be made. We are in negotiations with Manny's team to try to make the fight a reality."

A date is yet to be set for Pacquiao's ring return though he already instructed his promoter Bob Arum that it must be within the first quarter of 2016, before the elections. —JM Siasat/JST, GMA News

Will watch. Would be more interesting than any fight Floyd was in that's for sure.

Are you shitting me? This would be a fight of the year candidate. Both guys will come to fight and let their hands go. If Manny's shoulder is good, I can see him turning the tide with one big straight left that rocks Khan and has him wobbly and in retreat until either the final bell or he gets stopped.

I hope it's a title fight for one of Mayweather's vacant belts.

Khan is wasting his career away, waiting on a big name (or in this case, the two biggest.) I hope Mayweather comes out of retirement to rematch Pac, just to see the Lolz on Khan's face again.

His last five fights have been:
Carlos Molina 12/12
Julio Diaz 4/13
Luis Collazo 5/14
Devon Alexander 12/14
Chris Alergies 5/15

Got damn shame.

Khan could have fought Alexander a year earlier (when he had a belt) or Kell Brook instead of Chris Alergies for a belt.

He's turning down a date with Danny Garcia again in December, and is hoping for a Pacquiao showdown. There is no guarantee's it happens and it will be another year again he's wasted.

Pacquiao needs to bring back Alex Ariza now that Mayweather is retired.

You're an ugly, hate-filled man.

His shoulder is fine mate. I'm sure he'll be as good as he claimed he was before the Floyd fight. :oldlol:

I honestly think Amir would beat both of Floyd and Manny given he keeps his chin out of the danger zone.

Amir chased Floyd for two years....who instead fought that old bum Berto or whatever.

Pacman is wayyyy past his prime..and doesn't have much power anymore...if Khan fights smartly he'll win this easier than expected.

If a feather fisted like Algieri can make Khan's knees buckled:oldlol:

Then Pac will make Amir do the stanky leg:rockon:

Yeah you can exorcise the ghost of Giffro and turn Khan's chin like will-o-the-wisp:oldlol:

Manny should do a trilogy with Bradley. Bradley's clearly the best welterweight after Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Now that the Floyd sweepstakes are over, we are going to see some great matchups over the next few years from the 140 - 154 weight classes.

This is only the beginning.

No, cuz now Khan is stalking Manny. Young guns like Thurman. Porter, Garcia, Brook, Spence, ect around. Yet, he's worried about Pac. Thank goodness he's the only one worried about Pac and the others can fight each other.
