I pity people that go through these struggles.

It doesn't take much to earn a decent pay nowadays, all you have to do is invest your time searching for the right job. I'm fresh out of HS and am making over double of what she makes per hour (I'm making about a grand per two weeks after taxes compared to her $240). I have another job in my horizon that'll pay triple of what she makes per hour and I'm qualified for it right now.

When I graduate college I'll have even more opportunities for an enjoyable job/lifestyle. All you really have to do is apply yourself. The girl in the video doesn't strive to be successful, if she did then she'd find a job that pays more than $7.50. When she was my age she was busy making welfare babies instead of planning for her future. By the time I'm 22 I should be on the road to starting my career.

If you're using McDonalds as your main source to pay your bills, keep a roof over your head, and have clothes on your back then you've ****ed up in life.

A few points:

-$7.50 sucks but even if she was making $15 with no government aid she would still be "struggling"

-$216 a month is doable for a 2 family household. I spend over $300-$400 a month buying mostly organic food products and buy a lot of stupid shit.

- How is she only making $6,200 of income a year? If her hourly rate is $7.50 that means she works roughly 900 a year averaging out to 17 hours a week. I understand she has a kid and can't work full time but at the same time she has subsidized child care and could work more if she wanted.

- She gets over $11k in benefits that are tax free. This doesn't include the earned income credit which is another $2,500 a so a year.

Now let us take the example of a a college educated single mom that gets no benefits and makes $50k a year.

Let us assume her tax rate is around 30% taking into account payroll taxes, federal and state income taxes. This leaves her with $35k a year.

- Health insurance for 2 going to run her $200-$500 a month. Let us say her yearly insurance premiums are $4k a year.
-Child care is going to run her from $3k to $10k a year. If she is working full time child care is going to cost a decent amount. Let us go on the low end and say $6k a year.
-Let us assume her food costs run $216 a month coming out to roughly $2,500 a year.
- She doesn't get any housing subsidy. Let us say she loses out on $1,500 of housing subsidy.

The costs above total to $14k. Leaving her with $21k to spend on other items and has to work full time to make $50k a year.

The lady working at Mcdonalds is practically working part time and has roughly $8,000 a year to spend on other items (the lady would not pay any federal/state income and would be responsible for payroll taxes.)

Take into other benefits the lady in the OP gets in state version of subsidies and the two aren't so far apart from each other.

whose fault is this? why should anyone feel bad for some idiot who didn't try hard in life to do well, has a low end job with no future, and decides to have a kid? :biggums:

i mean if we're supposed to support and prop up everyone who has fukked up their lives and made bad decisions in a poor predicament then when does any responsibility fall on the person to stop making bad decisions in their life?

where is the precedent set to encourage people to do better for themselves if we are supporting the ones who didn't give a fukk?

and its like if they have a kid they have no business having and can barely support we're supposed to support both of them based on sympathy for the kid

shit is so backwards and a self destructive doctrine :coleman:

Godzuki

she can live on $250~ a week with government aid btw. she has free healthcare now. she gets breaks for the kid, i'd assume food/shelter assistance, so what else does she need? a smart phone with a 20gb data plan? nice new jordans?

oh thats right she's probably miserable she has to work 40 hours a week to make that, welcome to the working world the rest of us are a part of. most people in that predicament just hate working and waking up early period.

It's a tragedy. Millions of mothers having children they have no ability to care for. These states should take over, feed the children, imprison the mothers and let some of the kids serve as their prison guards when they grow up.

It's sad to see a starving family of 8 in Africa, and the mother is pregnant.

As I said before, I saw this exact thing on a video during my social issues class like two years ago. 'We are so hungry, we have no food, we have no money', etc. Yet, you have 8 kids and pregnant with #9?? And probably don't know any of the fathers (no father was shown in the video).

Maybe if you had two kids, or even better, none, you wouldn't be so hungry? I feel like feeding 2 is easier than feeding 10?

Seems like she's made a lot of poor decisions in her life.

isn't it difficult to differentiate between decisions and circumstances though ? she grew up where she grew up, how she grew up, and became what she is.

Anyone given her exact same set of circumstances will, on average, become what she is. Some will overcome, some will do even worse, most will do somewhere in her ballpark.

either way though, it is stupid to make pity video like this given there are so many other people in way worse situations to the point it makes this lazy lifestyle look comical to cry about

With the amount of time she has, she can probably go shopping once every 1-3 days and be able to buy fresh, healthy food. No need to buy frozen shit, gummy bears and canada dry.

She needs some education/help on how to eat. Hopefully those helping make the video assisted.
