Looking forward to this and seeing where everything is going. Really liked Prometheus, great movie. It's a DIFFERENT movie, which is why it's so refreshing.

That was a really  moment yeah, and a couple of the characters were corny and typical. Overall I really liked the flick though, had lots to it that wasn't typical.

Prometheus was the most disappointing film I've ever seen. So much promise and it was awful

I liked it.I thought it was interesting. People nitpick it to death but it's not a history lesson, it's a made up film based on made up science.

It had its flaws, with the decision making of characters being by far the biggest, but was overall still great because of the visuals and great suspense.

By the way, the title is very intriguing. I thought Prometheus was differentiating itself from the Alien franchise, but this indicates the opposite.

Prometheus became worse and worse by the minute and by the time it ended, I wanted to punch the screen.

Prometheus had a lot of different facets to it and left a lot of unanswered questions...
-motives of David? (Fassbender's android character) He purposely infected one of the humans, but he saves the main character at the end.
-what is the "black goo"? why was it created?
-Did the Engineers create humans? what are their motives?

It's a different type of movie in the same universe (much better than the typical Alien sequel)
should end up explaining the start of the movie "Alien"...why the ship was there, what the xenomorphs are, etc

I thought the bold were clear. Yes, they created humans. David was trying to understand his own existence, just as the humans were. His creation and curiosity was meant to parallel the humans. This is why he asked the guy who he infected how far he would go to understand.
The black goo was confusing, mostly because of how inconsistent it was in what it did. It mostly seemed to speed up forms of evolution.

-David was just following Peter Weyland's order to seek out the engineers hope to find eternal life. That would mean by any means possible.
-The black goo was the engineer's weapon of mass destruction ( WMD ). They were not stupid to experiment on their own planet, that's why they do it on somewhere remote.
-The Engineer did created humans. But for some reason, they want to destroy it and start over.
I had to watch the movie couple of times to really understand it.

09-24-2015, 01:58 PM
It probably is clear that the engineers did "engineer" human life...their motives for wanting to destroy it are not though.
Maybe it was just the motives of that one lone engineer?
been a while since I've seen it...need to watch it again

I thought Prometheus was terrible. The acting and writing was horrendous. The only bright spot to me was the possibility of a decent sequel based on the plot.
ImmortalNemesis
09-24-2015, 03:06 PM
Main problem was the writing. Which Damon Lindelof handled. Damon Lindelof is utter trash.
You'll be happy to hear he's not returning for the sequel. He won't get the chance to ruin this like he ruined Prometheus and Tomorrowland.
Unfortunately, his replacement is the guy who wrote Green Lantern... :facepalm

They probably just wanted to distance the movie from the first Prometheus because of how awful it was.

Acting was good in Prometheus...Fassbender is the shit no matter what he is in.
a couple of the lesser characters might of sucked, but the acting by the main cast was good stuff IMO

Not sure why people thought Prometheus was so bad. I thought it was easily better than Alien 3 and Resurrection. I actually really enjoyed it but I guess keep in mind I love the Alien universe and had a great appreciation for all the fan-service and tie in stuff that Pometheus did. 2nd one could be cool but I feel like they need to do it a bit more like an action movie (such as Aliens).

Reasons it was bad was because of:
1: biologist wanting to pet alien worm like it was his dog and then acts surprised when he gets bit......what person would want to pet an alien worm on first contact?
2: Engineer wakes up, gets angry and goes on a killing spree.....why? How about explaining why the dude goes bonkers? I am not paying to see this movie for the director to let me assume the reasons why, I want to be entertained.
3: Blonde lady, Charlize Theron.......ship is about to roll your ass over, all you gotta do is turn 90 degrees and you're good,....but no you keep running right in line to get squished.
4: Engineer dude takes off to blow up earth, when that goes to crap.....let me hunt this woman because I am a bad guy that likes killing for no reason?
5: the geologist dude that doesn't want to be a decent human and have some manners or know teamwork? you'd think they would screen candidates that are assholes before going on long space trips?
6: woman getting her octopus like alien aborted, which then attacks engineer, which impregnates the engineer with alien thingy?......Huh? Why did the woman give birth to the octopus type thing? What did it eat to grow so big in the short time?
In conclusion, the story was started off good then got dumb and dumber until I wished every character die painfully.

1) Have you ever met biologists? It would not be strange for me to see them "pet" a worm :oldlol:
2) The engineer's were established as a pretty violent race in the first 5 minutes.
3) You said it correctly...she's a blond :lol
4) His ego was bruised!
5) Many people in the top of their fields are assholes. Also these people were selected by Weyland Corp. Oddly enough..they are assholes!
6) Have you ever seen any alien movie before? This is a Xenomorph.
In fairness, some of your points I can see. Feels a bit nitpicky though. The movie is more a message movie than anything dealing with existential themes. The action moments on screen are secondary.

I hated when dude wanted to touch the worm too, but it is a very minor detail to the movie. Feels like that is the go to for people who hate the movie.

1) Have you ever met biologists? It would not be strange for me to see them "pet" a worm :oldlol: umm it's an alien worm in black goo, surely an educated scientist would take at least a minimal level of caution and use a stick instead of his arm
2) The engineer's were established as a pretty violent race in the first 5 minutes. Not really, it just showed that they were seeding some planet
3) You said it correctly...she's a blond :lol :facepalm even you can't let this one go
4) His ego was bruised! How do you know, do they have egos?
5) Many people in the top of their fields are assholes. True, but he didn't look like he was top fun type, more of a hired goon
6) Have you ever seen any alien movie before? This is a Xenomorph. Then why did she not give birth to alien instead of the squid
In fairness, some of your points I can see. Feels a bit nitpicky though. The movie is more a message movie than anything dealing with existential themes. The action moments on screen are secondary.

I can dig it. Any continuation of the alien series I'll anticipate and see. Prometheus was pretty good. One complaint I have was why put old man rubber face on the actor instead of just getting an actual old dude. Didn't make sense.
Not enough space Sci if thrillers. The more, the better

She didn't technically destroy the ship, it was the flight crew, but I hear you.
Still there were enough "come on man" moments in this movie to ruin what could have been a good movie.

At one point I heard that they were going to have more when he was young. It got scrapped, not sure if it ever made it to film. However, with sequels this allows room for flashbacks.
