The team owner has just spent 5 minutes and counting telling me about his high school friend. There's also unskippable time out talks and long ass intros for postgame talk and can't skip those quick either. Theres more cut scenes with zero input from the player or choices i make like in the old game than there is actual playing basketball.

They should have called this spikes career not my career because i don't decide anything. Faaaaaark this cut scene won't end

Not feeling the whole story stuff thus far either. I did like the transition from high school to college. Opponents clearly more athletic, no broadcast to a college specific broadcast, bands, halves, 30 seconds shot clock, etc. Wish we had more choices than those piece of shit schools tho. Also high school felt somewhat natural since you don't want to spend all day in those games. Same goes for college but I wasn't loving how short the career felt. Went from first game, mid season test, third game (or swap the last two), and all of a sudden you are in the championship game. Meh.

And Freq? FREQ? What the freq kind of name is that.

Got lucky to end up on a decent park team and we ran shit for a while. My guy is 61 after some games and the preorder... Everyone in park is 80+ in all this gear. What the ****? Everyone buying that much VC already?

Park servers aren't laggy at all. Could be because it's 4-7 in the US and these are preorder players. I'll take it.

Damn, I regret buying this. I was already bored by 2K15 and thought this would spark my interest again, but

- Mycareer story sucks and games are so monotonous.. every game is the same

- MyTeam starts you off with so bad cards and there are so many challenges/modes to grind - and it's exactly like last years myteam

- MyGM is just... too long of a season if you want realism with 12min quarters and 82 games..


So now I'm just sitting here playing quick games because I cba starting any modes. 8 hours after I started playing.. :(

Thought they were marketing that we get choices and they matter this year? MyCareer is very linear. Somehow more than last year (to this point - my rookie year) where none of your choices mattered other than shoe affiliation.

A positive, I guess, they fixed the baseline cheese. Now you're a lot more likely to run out of bounds. Ball seems to be knocked away more easily when you dribble through traffic as well. Not just by the opponent either.

They changed the post up, tho, and for the life of me I can't register it in my head. I keep pressing Y when I want to post up and it lobs a pass. ****ing hell. I'm using a big too.

The new free agency stuff is interesting. Although I wonder if you can still take the biggest contract and then force a trade to the team you want (while getting paid the highest you can). I just chose Dallas instead of testing because I don't want to play for some team I don't want to join and get stuck. Creating new players is going to be a pain. Going to have to sit through that crappy story again. ugh. Once I unseat Dirk and take the starter spot, I'll try out that foul out exploit from last year and see if it's fixed.

The Jordan Rec replacement is buggy shit. Reminds me of old teamup where you spend half an hour waiting for the room to fill and then it glitches out when it finally does. I'd hate to see what the servers do when it has to handle first week players in a couple days, and especially Christmas users in a few months.

And classic 2k servers losing connection right as you end games in MyTeam. Did it to be b2b while I was playing through domination and completely soured the experience. Not going to touch that shit for a while.


Going to **** around on MyGM now. Last year was straight garbage. Eventually you became so OP with the boosts that every player on your team was 90+. Hope they fixed that.

Watched some of the MyCareer and it doesn't look as bad as people are making it out to be, I love seeing High School and Colleges being involved in the story. I'm getting used to 2K adding stories to their MyCareer series. MyCareer used to be nothing special back in the day, everyone's MyPlayer averaged legendary stats in their career mode and the series mode used to be nothing but playing games with no real drama that adds to the story.

The gameplay is the most important thing, and nobody is even talking about it. I haven't played the game, but it looks smooth. From a visual aspect, it looks the best it's been since 2K11.

I just play single player (seasons, association) and it plays great. Some small control changes that aggravate me (it's not intuitive) but it plays great and looks great. Can't tell you about multie player or mycareer yet.

Trade AI seems smarter. I think. Chose the Jazz for MyGM (going to sim only this) and I'm not getting insane trade offers other than the Pistons seemingly wanting to salary dump Drummond. And they really milk you for all your worth now. Trying to grab every little second rounder they can from you. Wish they would copy Football Manager where you can lock things in contracts (well, it would be trades in 2k). That way you can get your deal or tell them to **** off. Because the way it is now, it's 2K's way or no way it all. They have all the control.

Only messed around for a little over an hour last night on this because I was tired and spent the first hour trying to relocate the Jazz to Seattle. It's basically a create a team and it's pretty deep. Can change every color on the court, upload your own images for logos and shit, place those on the court if you want, choose what advertisement (can also upload your own images), scoreboard, adjust the seating, the concessions, travel, create your own uniforms (again, a lot of options). I like it a lot. Too bad none of the owners are approving the move and I wasted that hour. My jerseys are sexy, and now I got to use the ugly Jazz shit.


And it does play better. Like mentioned, they adjusted for the baseline cheese in previous games. You're a lot more likely to run out of bounds. Also I can't seem to do that cheese I can't remember what it's called. Where you kind of swerve a bit and then crossover. Would beat the CPU almost every time last game. Now they stick to you, frankly, almost unrealistically. Granted, I have only played three game (all MyTeam, with crappy bronze players) and the rest is based on MyCareer where I'm using a PF who can't dribble.

Collisions are better. Both on fouls and when you're handling. My guy instantly gets stripped in Park now. His ball control is default on a PF, so it's like 40-something probably.

One thing I noticed is free throws are insanely easy. My guy's rating was in the 50s for most of the games, I don't even get near the marker a lot of the time, and I missed once or twice out of 20+ attempts. Not sure what's up with that. Been playing on Superstar.

They also still delay your inbounds. Which is incredibly annoying... Why should I get penalized because the defense isn't set yet? And I feel like mid Js are still OP. Draining them like I'm Dirk out to a step inside the 3pt line with a 60s rated shooting player. Although I did find it interesting how I couldn't miss from 3 in college and now every time I take a 3 in the NBA, it's a horrible shot and I will miss unless it's perfect. Not sure how they adjusted that. Probably giving too much crediting thinking it's because college 3pt line difference? Either way, I should not have been Nash from 3 in college when my 3pt shooting was in the 40s.

Lillard won the scoring title, averaging 31.3 ppg. Durant at 29.5 was second. Nothing surprising, except maybe Isaiah Thomas being 15th in scoring at 21.9.

DJ was the rebounding leader at 15.8.

Lillard also was the assists leader at 10.3. Only player above 10. I guess Westbrook at 9.8 seems high. Considering Durant averaged 8.3, himself.

Think I moved too many players for standings to show anything, but just for the first season before random rookies start littering the league..

My Jazz lost in the first round, although Mirotic and Green were both injured. Kind of ****ed my entire roster build. Sidenote: Hezonja is a beast. Looking at the rookie stats, he probably was second in ROY voting. And I had him coming off the bench until Bradley got injured.

Clippers defeat Spurs in the WCF. Cleveland over Miami in ECF. Cavs in 6 over LAC. Bron FMVP (27.5/7.3/8.5).

Pop and Karl retire. Weirdly, so does Billy Donovan.

And my relocation request fails... 15 votes. Needed 16. Says I can add more stuff to change votes for next year, so I assume I don't need to restart everything, ie, rebuild the court, jerseys, and whatnot. That would be a relief.

New staff stuff. Can now steal staff from other teams and vice versa. It works like FA where you offer and they take days to reply back, rather than before where you could sign them immediately. Which is apparently more difficult as I got none of my first targets. Nor second targets. And none of third targets... Left with scraps. Tho they weren't as demanding, so I managed to get them all for 1 year, less than max contract deals. I'll do better next offseason. I did notice a lot of coaches either didn't re-sign or got fired. Blatt was in there after winning it all. Carlisle. McHale.

Drafts still don't make sense. Wiz got the top pick and they took a PG, who wasn't even the top prospect. The presentation is much better, tho. When you pick comes up they show your trade offers now. That NY pick ended up being 13... I got an offer from the Sixers where I trade my 13 for Carl Landry and the guy they selected 5th in this draft. :wtf: And that wasn't the only offer of players already selected earlier in the draft. Happened again at my next pick. Should note that top 8 or so prospects aren't falling in the draft like they did in last game.

Haha, traded my 13 and something-I-forget-not-too-valuable for the Hornet's 11th pick (the guy I was targeting for 13) and a future 1st. Then at my next 1st rounder, at 23, they offered the guy they selected with the 13th after trading it for me for the 23 pick straight up. Happened again at my 25th pick. Stupid ass game. btw, didn't accept either. That guy was trash and no idea why they traded a much better player to select him in the first place.

The summer league addition is pretty cool. Uses your younger players and you fill the rest of the roster with FAs. There's actual a schedule and then championship round like the real summer league. Jumped into one of the games and the court is legit the Magic summer league court. Although that one isn't for visitors and there's clearly an audience there. Small gripe.

Hoops Summit also nice. Tho played in MSG. Pretty sure that's played in Portland, unless they changed it.

he put up 30+ points and 13 assists per game in my first season. D'angelo Russell put up 27ppg and 11 assists in his second year. There's some players who just seem to be awesome in this game.

First impressions of the game for me, I like it, feels tighter, game play seems a step slower but overall it works well. You can actually play defence, keeping your man in front of you with out him sliding through to the ring. They make you pay if you try for steals or jump on a pump fake.

Took me and my bro a good few hours to work out how to play a 2 player association like we normally do, each player locking a player. I know when 2k15 first released it didn't work either. Now there was just no option, with only a player lock option for player 1. Weird. Did have to clean shave though as it kept registering my beard as part of my actual chin, making myplayer have a huge ass chin.

Overall though, this game will be great for what i play it for, 2 player fantasy association, and i can play as my boy Mudiay, and the beats are much better than the last few iterations. If i had to score out of 10, probably an 8.

First impressions of the game for me, I like it, feels tighter, game play seems a step slower but overall it works well. You can actually play defence, keeping your man in front of you with out him sliding through to the ring. They make you pay if you try for steals or jump on a pump fake.

Took me and my bro a good few hours to work out how to play a 2 player association like we normally do, each player locking a player. I know when 2k15 first released it didn't work either. Now there was just no option, with only a player lock option for player 1. Weird. On paper Russell is basically 6-5 Curry. Give him the hype/unknown boost, following Curry's last season, and it's not surprising he kills in this game. Same with Towns (becomes top ranked center three years in) and I took over the Sixers after Utah ****ed me and Okafor puts up peak KG numbers after I moved him to PF. Legit 24/12/5 couple blocks.

I did notice overall progression is slower for the non-chosen one and auto-generated players have way lower trade value. I'm constantly seeing former top 5 picks up for trade 2 or 3 seasons in their career. And they are still 70s or maybe low 80s. Just drafted the first consensus #1 across the board (79 ranked) I've seen, so I'll see if he develops quickly. But I haven't seen a real star yet come out of the generated classes 3 and a half seasons in. Completely unlike last year.

2k16 app dropped yesterday if you missed it. You can use it solely for daily packs (takes about 30 seconds to a minute, depending on your phone). Or also do the daily games for an extra 500 (?) VC. That will take 5 or 6 minutes.

Free VC is free tho. Same as last year, except now there's a double player selection round making it a pain in the ass for people like me who run bluestacks with a macro. Ready got a workaround it tho.

This guys a power forward and I'm still learning the post moves under this control scheme so I put up more average stat lines and he apparently had all good games compared to my point guard and small forward who both put up huge games in all the college games they played.

So you can win rookie of the year, my power forward won it but there was no announcement or notification but it shows up under my characters awards list now I'm in season two. If you make the play offs you only get to play the first game of the series for some reason then it just skips the rest.

Also odd that I am a power forward, I've put some points in to jump shooting but my three point rating is still in the 50s but in my rookie year without taking a single three in the 9 games I played myself I finished with 59% three point shooting and made 90 three pointers. Really odd considering how low my rating is.

The stats don't seem to be relevant in the HS and College modes. My guy was beasting all over everyone. I was crossing up people and raining 3's... and I'm a 7'1" Inside Center. I think they just want to make your player dominant so it fits with the story. Most NBA first rounders dominated HS/College.

So, I mean, it's fun. I don't mind the linear story telling, I'm just bummed there aren't a COUPLE branching options (for example I would never pick an agent like that dude).

But the easiest solution is to have two modes. A story if 2K wants to build on the story thing (maybe add some branching), and a MyPlayer mode where you just do seasons like in Madden or something. It will be interesting to see what they do with the feedback from this one.

On my 2nd season with mycareer, it's nowhere as bad as the first season. There's no more cutscenes, haven't seen my black sister nor my Asian girlfriend 15 games in. Liking the option to do different stuff on off days so far, and gameplay has been pretty decent.

I'm a 6'3 balanced PG with a 78 rating atm averaging 16/8/5 on 51% with the Miami Heat. Been killing it ever since I took Dragic's starting spot. It's kind of annoying that you got caps depending on your play style that you chose in the beginning, but I believe bonus attributes from practice and boosts puts you past those caps.

Been messing around with new characters and the games go serious sim issues. Made a 6'4 outside sg and maxed his 3 pt. He is shooting 76% in his rookie year from three after 52 games lol. He's the greatest shooter of all time. The caps are messed up too to try a s fix online. A balanced sf can only make it to 75 3pt shooting and an outside player with maxed ball handling dribbles off other peoples feet because of his cap

When i play him though he can still brick wide open threes in game but in mycourt he knocks down every shot, step backs fadeaway spin move for three. Fees like there's a random miss chance now that i didnt used to have on my lower rated 3pt shooting sf.

Probably gated behind badges like how my pf would brick post ups over guards until I got the post badges unlocked and upgraded

Does anyone play MyGM? 2k16 has been improved big time. Holy shit. It doesn't even feel like your regular 2k game anymore. The last big improvement/changes was around 2k9-2k11, they messed around with the physics, etc. & now it's completely different, the way they move, though the similarities are still there, but it's only at 5%, it changed for the better, from the Curry layup pack to the bankshot/teardrop shot angle/projectile. The way they setup or gather themselves before they shoot.

One changes I also need to see removed, a recently added feature in 2K15 - an altered after-shot effect. I don't like how your player twitches or adjusts its follow through after a slight contact from the defender/opponent, it ruins your mental image of the flow of the shot & I'd call that a bad experience. It happens, but the animation is terrible, it's overly exaggerated with the way how they arch their body or body. I rate the flow of the game at 8 right now, 2K15 was terrible at 3.

MyGM staff hiring is a little broken, I don't understand why none of these unemployed f*cks wanna work for the Golden State Warriors. Fired my Assistant GM & I gave up after 10 minutes of looking for a new assistant, took a break & still looking for more as I type this. Loving the new features, relocation/new design -- the feature I've been waiting for since 2K7 (where I started playing Association mode in 2k).

I'm not sure if the 3-team trade is back or not, but I WANT IT back, please.

2k14 felt much better to me.
They improved his Jumpshot in 2K16. It's probably the matter of perception, but it definitely has improved a lot. In the past, they've used the same jumpshots for Curry & Monta, which was baffling when he doesn't have that much lift when he shoots in real life. Though, it's situational, sometimes he spreads his legs like a Kendrick Perkins base jumper in 2K15, and sometimes he gathers his jumper when he spots up. More on leg-spread (right leg forward, left leg dragged behind) when he shoots in transition.

Kobe's jumper has improved a lot too, I used to use Carlos Boozer's jumper since Kobe sort of gathers himself when he spots up, now I definitely don't mind their preset jumper used for Kobe.

I can agree with 'less responsive & slow', but you can always fix that by tweaking the game speed and speed in Gameplay settings/User Sliders. Can tweak it to your preference. Btw, the flow of the game tweaked or non-tweaked feels better than the previous 2K's, since when you up the speed tempo, they felt robotic when they move around the court, for 2K16, they feel in-motion when they move with the right settings or at 70 speed max.

The last big improvement/changes was around 2k9-2k11, they messed around with the physics, etc. & now it's completely different, the way they move, though the similarities are still there, but it's only at 5%, it changed for the better, from the Curry layup pack to the bankshot/teardrop shot angle/projectile. The way they setup or gather themselves before they shoot.

One changes I also need to see removed, a recently added feature in 2K15 - an altered after-shot effect. I don't like how your player twitches or adjusts its follow through after a slight contact from the defender/opponent, it ruins your mental image of the flow of the shot & I'd call that a bad experience. It happens, but the animation is terrible, it's overly exaggerated with the way how they arch their body or body. I rate the flow of the game at 8 right now, 2K15 was terrible at 3.

MyGM staff hiring is a little broken, I don't understand why none of these unemployed f*cks wanna work for the Golden State Warriors. Fired my Assistant GM & I gave up after 10 minutes of looking for a new assistant, took a break & still looking for more as I type this. Loving the new features, relocation/new design -- the feature I've been waiting for since 2K7 (where I started playing Association mode in 2k).

I'm not sure if the 3-team trade is back or not, but I WANT IT back, please.

Need an option to disable progressive fatigue.

I love MyGM and its my go to after mycareer, i probably spend more time on mygm then mycareer tbh. But i do agree the staff hiring is different and more difficult, however if you keep up a winning culture then the more prestigious and higher rating staff will agree to join your team.

And there are 3 team trades, plus the trades are much more realistic and harder to exploit compared to last year.

On my 2nd season in my career right now.

6'3 PG 88 overall averaging 24/12/6 on 52% with the Miami Heat on HoF difficulty.

We played like shit to start the season, and picked it up right before all star break. We were barely a .500 team by all star break but caught fire after the all star game going 24-4 to end the season.

Ended the season as a third seed with 51 wins, and currently up 3-2 against the 43 win Bucks.

Also don't like the skill/height caps this year, seems you can't make a stretch 4 unless he's like 6"8 because it caps your 3pt shot at like 65-70 if you are tall.

Team chemistry is at 100% with over 1 mil fans.
Dumb that you have to do 5 practices just to gain an attribute upgrade slot. Even if you play 6 min qtrs it's going to take forever.

Yeah, HoF really cheeses you sometimes. But I feel like I've gotten used to it, had a couple of games where I blew the HOF CPU out by the end of my season.

Plays yore are another story though, that's when my teammates started making dumb plays and I had to take over and score 40+ for us to even have a chance. Wade was averaging 21/5/4 for me in the regular season, and now he's playing like shit averaging 5 TOs per game. :facepalm

Need to unlock more upgrades, it says on the attribute screen how many upgrades you have available. You can do this by doing training on your off days. It's retarded, you don't need to actually do the training session just join it then quit again and it'll count but you have to sit through the loading screens.

It's really silly. the load screens ruin it. if you could just click a button like the "hang out on airballon with oladipo" off day shit then it wouldn't be so bad. Plus if you could do it while also simming games because it makes you play them to use the training.

The game hates Westbrook and Durant playing together too, in the play offs in my game Westbrook just came back from injury and suddenly we've gone from sweeping everyone to bricking everything and turning it over like crazy. Game hates him.

Gotta vent for a minute. Started an online season with a friend a couple days ago and did a fantasy draft. Playing my third game of the season I'm playing the Hawks with Dirk on the team.

We get late in the game and I'm up 1. Dirk drives baseline and goes up and under..... except he comes through the backboard and lays it up. I'm furious at this point. Surprised I didn't get a tech through the kinnect.

I end up losing by like 5 because of intentional fouls and FTs, but I'm so pissed that layup went in. There were so many other things happening during that game that was telling me I was getting 2Ked. Missing open jumpers, open layups and whatnot. Pick and rolls kill me in this game, don't understand them.

Anyways, pretty much lost a game because of a late "through the backboard shot" by Dirk that should've been out. Damn this game can royally suck at times.

Decided to give MyTeam a try this week for the first time. Already had a couple of gold players like Klay, Wiggins and Bosh from doing connections, so I figured might as well give them a shot.

I opened up a Raptors starter pack to start my journey and got Terrence Ross along with Sim Bhullar + a bunch of bronze players.

You can only use 1 silver player + bronze players for the Qualifying round and 8th seed for Road To the Playoffs so I decided to play some Domination to fill my roster with better players before challenging going online. I’ve played around 10 games for domination and have yet to pull a Gold card lol… but I did pull some decent silvers like Noel, Nick Young, Jabari Parker, etc.

At this point I had around 25K MT points to play around with, and after shopping around a bit in the Auction House, I ended up with a roster of:
Pierre Jackson/Jordan Farmar
Mike Miller/Nik Stauskas/
Terrence Ross/Hedo Turkoglu
Jerami Grant/ Steve Novak/Scrub
Justin Hamilton/Sim Bhullar/Scrub

Bronze players suck too much ass, so you want to get as many specialists as possible. Either players that are really fast and can finish in the break, or players who can shoot the 3.

I’ve spent maybe 4-5K MT (sold back really easily) filling out this roster, and I had no problems with the qualifying seed and the 8th seed.

I’m at the 7th seed right now and currently sitting at 3-0 with a roster of:
Lillard/Rubio
Klay Thompson/Alec Burkes/Gerald Green
Terrence Ross/Jabari Parker/Giannis
Chris Bosh/Cody Zeller
Gobert/Noel

Looking to get rid of Rubio and Jabari Parker (and the rest of my 2nd unit lol) to add some more shooting for my bench. I’m looking at LMA as a replacement for Bosh if I can snipe him for below 5K MT, and maybe replace Lillard with Irving if I can snipe him at around 7-8K…

Anybody plays this mode frequently and can give me some pointers at making MT? Are pack openings worth it? Or should I just.... trying to snipe players from AH and make MT from that (haven't had too much luck with this).

I used to play the old gm mode where you could set it to a 14 game season and that way I could just play every game without needing to sim anything and still get through the season quick. Can't find an option to shorten the season on this one

started playing the mygm mode in this. 4 seasons in and won one ring my line up in orlando is now payton,hezonja,gordon hayward, ben simmons, porzingis. Biggest problem is they've put in a bunch of situations that are clearly there to make you spend VC. If you get good players on your bench they whine about starting non stop and keep dropping their morale low. it forces you to trade them or pay vc to cheer them up. right now i've got a regen fake small forward rated 75 in his second year who keeps complaining he can't start when I have hayward rated 85 at small forward, willie cauley stein keeps crying on the bench too because he can't start of porzingis who's rated 90 now. I'll have to trade them or spend vc t ocheer them up because they lower everyones stats

Just got to the unrestricted seeds in My Team, going for that Amethyst Patrick Ewing!

For the 3 Gold player seeds I used:

Westbrook/Jrue Holiday
JJ Redick/Gerald Green/Danny Green
Carmelo/Ross/Iggy
LMA/Giannis
Gobert/Chandler

Westbrook could be replaced with Irving or Wall depending on your preferences.

Melo's shot is pretty pure in this game despite the ratings, but he could be replaced with PG13 or Kawhi if you prefer defense, I went with Melo because he's the cheapest out of the 3.

LMA is pure money in this game, dude is a beast from the post, midrange and even has a 84 standing 3 rating. Dude's also pretty beast around the rim often finishing contact lay ups and gets up pretty high on his dunks.

Gobert/Chandler are probably the best silver centers in the game.

I usually go big in the beginning, and then go small with Giannis at the 4. Dude's a beast defensively and dunks over everyone on the break.

I'm still testing lineups for unrestricted seeds playing around with Lebron at the 4 for small ball rotations. I'm not a big fan of his card in this game, his shot is too inconsistent for me to play him at the 3 over Durant, but he loses a lot of his defensive advantages on the perimeter if I play him at the 4....

Probably gonna roll with a lineup of:

Kidd/Irving
Klay/ROTY MJ/Tmac
Durant/LeBron/Melo
AD/LMA
Whiteside/DJ

Line up is relatively cheap, but effective IMO. I have enough MT for upgrades at the Center position if needed as well, so I should be set to go!

You'll get used to man defense eventually. There isn't really a tip for playing good defense IMO, just try to keep in front of your man, and anticipate his moves (especially online). I try to stay at a distance where I won't get blown by and can still get a decent contest if my opponent fires a jumper.

One thing I'd practice on is defending the pick and roll.... That shit is broken as fk in this game.

LT + RT & sometimes you just have to sprint when they blow by you. If you're defending the perimeter -- sag off & contest if they attempt to shoot.

I also suggest to switch to your front court when you defend since it's easier to anticipate what goes in the post (if you play the part in real life).

Want a finesse/quick layup finish for your bigman?

Change it to one of these positions: SF, SG or PG (secondary position doesn't matter), then go back to signature & go to layup packages, & there you'll have all available layup packages, just switch your player's position back to its original after you're done selecting, just don't scroll through the packages again or it'll give you the regular packages such as Griffin, Timmy & big man.

I do this for quick bigmen like Randle who sorta lays it in like D. Rose with that wild hop-step finish, Lebron's new layup package looks like guys like Pau or Dirk can use some of it too.
