Well kind of. My dad is going to act as a bank and finance me at a cheaper interest rate than the ridiculous rate that a bank would charge for a used car loan.

2009 Subaru WRX with 88k KM, (55k miles). Took it to our family mechanic and he could not find any issues at all, except for a "leaking AC condenser & compressor" - which was not a real issue and just a way for me to lower the price. All parts are stock, and the mechanic says that the car has been well taken care of.
I think I got a very good price, (~17k CAD, ~13k USD) for a well maintained & low milage car that drives like a straight-up boss. Just tapping the throttle, even at 2k RPM, makes the car accelerate and jump faster than any car that I am used to driving. Im lucky that I have great parents who have cash for me to spend on toys. Without my dad's financing help, I wouldn't blow 17k cash on this.
This bad boy does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and handles like a beast around corners. It probably outperforms cars that are triple its MSRP.

no im not. black on silver does not go together at all. Its hard to look at. you need aluminum colored stock rims, you should also remove the tint and the black housing in the headlights. something like these would be better than the typical gunmetal 5zigen wheels you got on there.

For 13k and the miles, can't really argue with that.
Regarding your financial comments, you better start saving cause when you own a car, the sticker price isn't the only thing you have to pay for.
Maybe your parents will pay for upkeep and maintenance. If not, get ready for the surprise. Oil every other month (in my case), tires, headlights will go out, brakes need changing. That's all routine stuff. Wait for your transmission to fall apart.

Well damn negative nancy, he just got the car :lol
But remember to check the oil and water every week or every other week, its quick and easy, better to make it a habit than to forget about it and royally **** your car up.

I was so pumped to be an adult until I became one. Bought my first car (all of my previous cars that I had bought were under 10k), drove it around like I was the shit.... then....
Tires. Brakes. Battery. Oil.

Well I offered to pay interest comparable to a mortgage or at least inflation, otherwise I would feel guilty about making my parents pay for my car. My insurance is already going under their roof, which saves me quite a bit, but also screws them over if I crash.

Thanks for the concern. The main reason I'm financing from my dad is because of the stuff you listed. I can probably save for a little bit and fork over 17k, but I'd like to keep a reasonable account balance in case shit comes up.

..
That car would look better with dark tint and some cooler rims. Silver on black is a MEAN colour scheme, so idk what youre going on about.
My rims arent even black... theyre just not stock.

Just gotta put a car seat in the back and one of those stick figure families in the window.
You realize you are probably a lot older than the OP right?

I mean that cars nice too, but nothing wrong with op's car. He's hating on the rims, when he himself drives around a prius.
To other prius drivers, nothing wrong with driving one of those around, I realize it is economically feasible for people looking to cut costs, but if you're gonna start hating on others for what they drive...pull them pants up and stop crying.

And he's hating on tinted windows.
Coming from Houston, EVERYONE has tinted windows. Everyone. Tint isn't just for looks.
There's nothing wrong with the car whatshisface posted, its just obviously a more adult/family man's car to which the OP clearly is not.

That's the way to go with your first car, my first car was a 2002 Infiniti g20. Got it for a great deal because the engine needed work, bought for 2800 (something liek that, I'm forgetting) fixed it up with my mechanic for under 1k, and it lasted me and my dad about 5 years until I made the most rookie mistake when it comes to car maintenance....no oil :facepalm
That's why I'm being extra careful with my new car rn, it has 2800 miles on it and the dealer told me to change oil every 3k, so Ima have to do that soon.

My dad always told me to change it every 5000 miles (easier to keep track of.. 5000, 10000, 15000) and to use synthetic every time.
According to http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2013/01/should-you-use-synthetic-oil-in-your-vehicle.html, you could realistically change synthetic oil every 10-12k miles, although I prefer sticking to 5k simply because its easy to remember.

Yep, no point cheaping out on oil or quality gas for performance cars IMO.

What you mean quality gas, paying for 93 instead of 87? What's the difference?

AFAIK, there isn't one really, except for higher performance cars.

Using prem gas in your civic won't make it perform any better. Few cars require it though.

Congratulations on your first car.
Ensure you pay your father back promptly.
Obey the road rules.
Respect other drivers.
Open the door for your lady.
Don't play music really loud.
The insurance will be in your Dad's name, so be listed as a nominated driver.
Don't flash anyone.
Casually travel between A and B and enjoy the destination on arrival.
Premium gas lasts longer for me.. It also accelerates faster, no knocking or rattling of the engine, etc.

Learn how to fix your own car, start watching videos, buy a Hanes or repair manual, get familiar with the car. It will save you money in the end and you'll learn something.

I feel you. My dad passed on his exterra 08 to me. He uses it for work, so I get it after he's home or not using it. Technically don't want any responsibility over a vehicle yet. I'm good with the little driving I do to meet girls or do some errands but the mta is fine for me. Still save money.
