Did you think he would go this long without improving his game when he was drafted back in 2008?

Love has been at the top of the league in post efficiency multiple times. He has a great post game. Shut the **** up.

Prove it, what was his post percentages last year?

http://stats.nba.com/playtype/#!/post-up/?dir=1&sort=PPP&CF=Poss*GE*100&Season=2014-15&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

post stats sorted for players with 100+ possessions.

Love is 6th in the league in Points Per Possession, and 3nd among big men. His volume wasn't that high compared to his previous seasons, because he posts up in the same spot Bron does. His stats are bouyed because of his extremely low turnover% from the post.

He had the 16th most post ups last season. The only person with better efficiency AND volume is Jonas Valanciunus

He would have had more if he wasn't spacing the floor for LeBron all season  He increased the % of his shots that came from 3 by about the same amount as he decreased his shots close to the rim. He was a high volume post player the few seasons before coming to the Cavs.

You are wrong.

Sakkreth
09-29-2015, 10:25 AM
While he's not Dmo in post ups he's still decent. Thing is cavs don't really need him to do it. They need him to rebound and shoot to space the floor.

So you just admitted that Love has a worse post game than Valanciunus who's not even a top 20 big man in the league?

he doesn't have to be a top-20 big man (which he will be btw) to have a top post game.

Of the top-15 players in terms of touches, Valanciunas has the highest efficiency. Dwight (by far) has the lowest.

Love posted up about as much as Duncan and Dirk last season, and slightly more then DMO. If he wasn't playing with Bron, he would have been top-10 in possessions and top-5 in efficiency for big men.

Love and Dirk were the only 2 good (and frequent) 3 point shooters in the top of the post-up frequency list.

You've been rekt. Gtfo. http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/12/125773/4337874-6236833361-you-l.gif

Btw, Valanciunas took half his shots at the rim last season and hit on 67% of them. He had a 62 TS%. 121 ORTG. Shot almost 40% from midrange. 12 Rbd/36

He'll be an all-star soon.

One of the best postup players in the league easily. Shame he cant do more with Bran occupying all the space inside relegating Love to a spotup shooter and Bran needs his elite shooters out there

People think Kevin Love is some unathletic white shooter, but he really has a lot of game as a scorer. Really skilled, great at making high degree-of-difficulty shots. Probably the best floater of any big man in the league. He's like a more athletic Luis Scola in the post. He's got crazy strong lower body too. He has a history of making clutch shots in Minny too. He's a great off-ball player, but when he can get his own shot too. He's so valuable as a floor spacer that it takes him away from the paint, where he's an elite offensive rebounder and post player. One of my favorite players.

nope, the reason love has good efficiency stats is because he gets fouled so much in the post. his best post move is turning into the defender and flailing his arms... for some reason the refs call it a foul. if you watch him you know his post game is shit, this is one of those times the stats mislead you, like when stats say LeBron James is not a choker.

His foul rate isn't that high on post plays (you can go look at the stats). He shoots a good %, but what sets him apart from other good post players is his low turnover rate. Dwight shoots a high % on post plays, but turns the ball over more than twice as often as Love, which kills his efficiency.

The only frequent post-up players with lower turnover rates than Love are Al Jefferson, LMA, and Dirk.

Dwight Howard shot 50% from the 3 point line last season

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/howardw01.html

Would you have called Dwight an elite 3 point shooter last season?

Yes or No? Don't dodge this question.

He made 50% of his attempts last year, better than Steph Curry, Mike Miller etc.

See, it doesnt make sense

You cant just look at percentages, volume matters as well

Love had the 18th most post-possessions last year.
Dwight shot 2 3's last season

Love scored 290 points from the post (14th in the league)
Dwight scored 3 points on 3's

And I'll say it again, If Love was playing on a different team, he would be top-10 in frequency and top-5 in efficiency. I wish we had these stats for Love's Minny years. Last season he took ~5 less shots per game from inside the arc than he did in Minny.

The stats we do have say that in Minny, Love took more of his shots from inside 2, more of his shots at the rim, and did so at a decently HIGHER efficiency, compared with what he did alongside Bron and Kyrie last season.

You're like some sort of troll punching-bag. I'm just getting a workout on you before the season starts.

Let me explain it in terms you'd understand, dubby

Of the two dudes youve went down on in your life, you only took 1 loud in your mouth. so yes, your percentages look great - 50% - but the volume isnt there to make you a pro

on the other hand, your mom is at a legit 45%+, but her volume is dozens upon dozens of guys. So she of course is much more skilled in her craft, as seen by her high % on multiple attempts

so yes, no one is calling you - or dwight in the scenario you presented - a pro.

I love Kevin Love's post game, but I think his efficiency would go down a bit if he posted more often, now that he lost so much weight. He probably got stronger, but it's so much easier to use the extra weight when you're trying to establish a position and close in with a man on your hip/back.

I think he's also not too comfortable shooting with his left hand, seeing all the fall aways he takes when he turns over his right shoulder.

But still, his jump hook is money.

True, posting up requires a combination of Lower body strength, technique, length, and athleticism

Lower body strength is the only thing I can give Love, but yea he got too slim now to bang with NBA bigs.
