Andre Drummond's monster potential

Stan Van Gundy said Andre Drummond has the potential to lead the NBA in rebounding (second last year) and blocked shots (sixth last year). It takes an extraordinary athlete to successfully challenge that many shots and still recover to the rim. The last to lead the league in both categories was Dwight Howard, playing for Van Gundy in Orlando, in 2007-08 and 2008-09. Ben Wallace did it for the 2001-02 Pistons.

I think his potential is overrated. He has a very low ball IQ and his type of athleticism doesnt translate to elite NBA production more often than not.

Give me a dude like Gobert or Vucecic potential over him EASY:applause:

Of course he's got a ton of potential, but so far he's so raw. I would like to see if he's added anything to his game after this off season, if not than I don't think he will be any better than what he is now. As far as rebounding and blocking shots he should be in the running year in and out for the next few years.

Andre Drummond is a monster from a size and space standpoint. But he still seems to lack the energy to do a lot of the big little things, such as rotating correctly on defense and providing swift and ample help D. Apparently he's been going hard this offseason so I'm interested to see where he is in terms of maturity and whatnot.

Also, 38% from the free throw line is going to kill a significant portion of his potential. That just can't happen.

Quick shot from yesterday's media day:

hes been working on array of post moves this summer, as well as backing down his man, and little 5 foot gimmes. He's going to get a lot more touches now that hes not sharing/splittling minutes with Monroe. But he should first and foremost be a defensive anchor. This would mean he needs to work on his 1v1 defense, as well as correctly manning the paint.

Hes going to go as far as his determination and IQ will let him. because we all know he has the athleticism to maintain that.

One has to wonder how many times Wilt led the league in rebounding, blocked shots and scoring.
