Probably because it's a basketball court, not a boxing ring. The players are there to play basketball. What is the stereotypical basketball player? A 6'8" a muscular 230 pounds, huge wing span, elite cardio and athleticism. A good amount of them I'm sure have been in a fair amount of fights as well.
