why? this same guy said yesterday that one of his priorities for the season is free agency to make sure his family is financially comfortable, and hes saying this while making 35 million dollars a year for the last 4 years. I dont feel sorry for him for getting an elbow in the eye, im pretty sure it was joakim noah who did it. The truth is d rose has changed and has become arrogant, and got the elbow in the eye intentionally. I hope it brings him down to earth.

They can just let him walk then or sign and trade him for some second round picks if they need to get something out of it.Said last summer that they should have traded him + picks for Melo if Phil wasn't willing to take Boozer. Pretty sure Dolan would have overridden PJax's resistance to taking back Rose. He'd be dumb enough to do that.
Jackson flat out rejected any S&T, so it's moot. Rose is still on the books for a season after this one. Right when the cap should hit $108M, I think, assuming no lockout.

SwishSquared

melo didn't sign with the bulls why would he waive his no trade to go there? My bad for how that last post wasn't clear.
Melo didn't go to the Bulls since it was literally a $50M difference between staying a Knick and signing as a FA in Chicago. Phil bent to pressure to give Melo a mega-deal even after he hinted Melo didn't deserve *that* big of a contract in hopes he'd ask for less (lol he took like $1M less per year).
Phil flat out rejected any notion of a S&T, which would have given Melo a 4-year max with an opt out after year 3. The money difference would have been $30M if it went down this way. I always thought Phil was short-sighted to reject any S&T when he could have netted picks and young guys for Melo.
I thought the best thing for Chicago last summer would have been to have Dolan overrule Phil and take back Rose + two firsts for Melo. If they first amnestied Boozer, as they did, they could have signed a PG. Then done the Melo deal. I thought that would have been a better bet for them.
Melo's plan all along though was lock in as much $$$ as possible and then maybe work out a trade later on. If he could have netted a 4-year max from the Bulls, I bet would have left NYC.
Now they're stuck with Rose unless a team like Brooklyn wants him next summer or something. However, FA PG class is weak so may as well let him expire at this point in 2017.

There is no way Westbrook was out a month. He came back after missing a couple of games and beasted as Maskbrook.
As much as it pains me to admit this; Westbrook and Rose are from two different Planets when it comes to mental toughness. Rose will sit out much longer and play like shit when he returns. They will say he isn't attacking the hoop because he is protecting his eye. He will say his ten 3-pointers a night from half court aren't going in because he is still suffering headaches from the eye injury.
These same headaches will force him to wander aimlessly while the rest of his teammates sit in the huddle listening to the coach draw up plays. Derrick will say the only time he feels comfortable is at home. He will tell everyone that he wants to answer questions for the media but "I don't want to lose my voice now and not be able to read my son bed-time stories tonight. Just be prepared for my free-agency" and then he will make some chemistry-killing remark about Jimmy Butler before walking away.
