More to being an athletic specimen than leaping which is why Carter IMO isn't one of the All-Time freaks overall. He lacked the explosion off the dribble, speed, quickness that other All-Time athletes had. Same with strength and at 6'6 he wasn't freakishly big for a leaper by NBA standards. LeBron, MJ, Wilt, Shaq, Westbrok etc. were all better as athletes, even somebody like Dwight I'd take over VC as an overall athlete.

Carter is the greatest leaper/dunker of All-Time tho. Atleast with players who actually did something in the league & in game. Maybe somebody like James White has a case in the gym. Gerald Green maybe too. During an NBA game/contest no question it's Carter tho.

But why don't they have exact numbers on their verticals for these tests?

Vince had a bigger body than Jordan so I'm going to say that strength was comparable and he may have been stronger ... I've never seen Jordan dunk with this kind of power, if it means anything

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIP8eevfp3c

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLkC_Jgvy5o

He didn't have Jordan's first step, but he did have a good first step and was able to explode off the ground

His body control and coordination were elite as well

If jumping over a 7 foot tall defender and dunking the ball IN GAME doesn't make you a freak athlete than nothing does

And Wilt wasn't $h!t

Dwight and Westbrook can't hold a candle to VC etiher

I'm not hating on VC. Just saying he was a freakish leaper, and a truly elite athlete. So yeah I guess he was a freak athlete, just not an All-Time freakish athlete IMO. Not top 5 or anything like that. Read what I quoted. Guy said VC was the greatest physical specimen of All-Time. That's the entire package. Speed, strength, size, vert, agility/acceleration, explosion, body control, coordination, length etc.

At 6'6 you need more than a "good" first step. He didn't posses that ridiculous quickness and explosion that guys like Jordan, Westbrook, Iverson had. He wasn't freakishly strong either. He explosive getting off the ground and leaping and anywhere from good/average/elite everywhere else.

Congrats. You posted a GIF of what I said Carter was the greatest at. Leaping. Dunking. If Wilt ain't shit than there's no reason to even continue this conversation because your clearly trolling. If a 7 footer who can leap, run, posses that kinda strength that Wilt had isn't even shit than I don't really know what is. I know the old school guys on ISH are annoying but Wilt belongs in that conversation 100%.

VC is all time top 1 athlete.
U guys dont remember the 2000s or before he had his first ACL injury

he had lightning first step, no handles and dunked on everyone
most explosive player ever

If you look closely at the pic, Wiggins hand is an inch or 2 above Carter's.

This is not an accurate photo lol
It's just superimposed..first of all, the photos were all taken at slightly different locations and shot from different angles. Also, the pole were in different locations. U cannot just superimpose the images on top of one anohter (even though location/angle were SIMILAR) and say it's the same lol

I am pretty sure vince touched higher..and he's 2 inches shorter.

He's two inches taller, but they're probably about even off the ground. The fact that a 38 year old is par with a 19 year old known for his vertical is insane.

Age simply means that Carter can't do these dunks all game long anymore. It takes a toll on his body more so than ever. The fact that he can still jump out of the building is not really surprising because all of these older athletes always have a moment or two where they show off a great dunk because they still have the ability to do that. The only difference is that they can't do it all game long anymore.

VeeCee15
10-02-2015, 11:25 AM
actually, tupac
yeah vince can still jump

but in his prime..he jumped like 8+ inches higher

How do you figure? it looks like theres only 4 markers above VC and 5 above wiggins.
