If poker is still on "sports" networks, E-Sports should be on too.

[QUOTE]Will a Colin Cowherd clip show improve? The difference will likely be marginal, if there is any. The Herd averaged just 46,000 viewers last week and it

video games aren't really sports in my opinion but if people watch it, people watch it. Cowherd is a huge beta though that guy is always saying cringeworthy shit

I'll never consider e-sports regular sports but if there's a market for it and space for them on television, who cares if a network picks it up?

Who is that blonde chick, and what is her role on the show?

I mean I can see a hot chick on a show like Howard Stern, but I don't care for her opinion on sports.......

The girl is Kristine Leahy... I doubt she is there for stimulating conversation lol

Because wearing a suit and rocking a common haircut of that time = dorky, right?!!! Hahaha, Gordon is ****ing hilarious!

:facepalm

Colins never been a dork in his life. Dorkyness is about PERSONALITY. And he's always had a cool one.

Gordon is nothing but a butthurt hack.

She spent a couple seasons as a sideline girl for Comcast Sports working Celtics games. She's harmless.

Why can't sports be sports and esports be esports? It's not very likely that anyone who enjoys sports but doesn't play games at all will EVER be interested in watching esports. Same goes for gamers who don't care for sports at all. Just keep them separated and call them sports and esports. Esports is big enough and diverse enough to have its own term and be treated like a group of (e)sports.

The much more sensitive issue is those borderline sports like chess and darts and stuff. Should those be considered an equal sport to e.g. soccer/football and basketball? Are they equal as athletics?

We've been through this before. (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=374639)

He has no idea what he's talking about, but he had x amount of time to fill and he knew his grumpy audience would like it. Video games will grow and those competitors really couldn't care less what you call the competition as they continue to make a bunch of money playing video games. Next.

So I'm going to go on a tangent. I have no idea why fighting games haven't been the big popular games that is on the networks, and blowing up as a spectator sport. It is easily the most entertaining to watch just as a game. It's easy to understand: one character vs. another. And it has truly tense moments, and great personal drama, since it's two dudes competing, sitting right next to each other. Further still, at that level those guys probably already know one another so you get rivalries, and all kinds of salt. I'm sure the same happens in MOBAs and FPS tournaments but you have teams, and it's less personal.

My only guess is that MOBAs are easy for anyone to play at a certain level, whereas there is a huge barrier into fighting games. The FGC is also very icy to outsiders, and frankly they don't want traditional media coverage. People tend to be drawn to stuff they like, and they tend to like stuff they aren't absolute shit at.

I personally don't give a shit if gaming is referred to as a sport or not, or if people wanna spend their time watching it or not, and I'm sure Cowherd doesn't either. But obviously it's an easy target for ranting, which is what his show is centered around.

I personally enjoy watching competitive/professional chess, and I don't care if its considered dorky or people think its a sport or not. In a way it's similar to gaming, although I think chess is clearly a bit more intellectually demanding and thus more compelling to watch head-to-head competitions. Video games have a little bit of elements like strategy, calculation, composure etc. but a lot of it also seems to just be pressing buttons really fast. I'm personally not into it but if that's what some people like to watch, good for them.

I actually wish more of those people would get into chess, but hey... what can ya do :confusedshrug:
