I almost feel bad for Rick Pitino. (http://larrybrownsports.com/college-basketball/katina-powell-louisville-madam-daughter-escorts/276350) Only "almost" because I'm a Celtics fan and figure he either knew something or kept himself intentionally ignorant about how his recruiters were recruiting.

Sooner or later the NCAA is going to hit Louisville with a postseason ban of a few years, take away scholarships that could have helped some of the student-athletes they pretend to care about and have Pitino suspended or fired. All because some prostitute refused to keep her mouth shut. This is not justice. Justice would be this woman getting locked up for however long prostitutes get locked up in Louisville. Not that I personally think prostitution should be illegal. I don't. But if she's going to make a big deal over this scandal then she should be punished in the way that prostitutes are normally punished as she apparently seems to believe there's something wrong with the activity.

How is this a whole book, anyway? They have some pictures of players with hoes, and a story that can be summed up with the sentence, "Louisville recruits and players had sex with a prostitute and her prostitute daughters." The material they have to discuss could be more than adequately covered in five minutes on TMZ. After they figure out where McGee got the money from and how much it can be proven that Pitino knew what more does anyone need to know? The worst thing about this is that it's possibly a misappropriation of school funds (the money easily could have also been provided by a booster that believed in playing dirty). And even if it was, they made the money back a thousand times winning a National Championship. 10Gs is probably less than the cost of Pitino's yearly wardrobe.

Are you implying illegal activity is okay if it leads to you making money?

I didn't mean to convey that message but looking at what I wrote i kind of am. Hmm. I am really just trying to say that the school wasn't hurt and in fact benefited. Up until this scandal became public. It isn't truly ok but these kinds of things happen in recruiting all the time. The sexual aspect of this case makes it a little different but we hear about illegal payment and academic scandal all the time.

Why would you feel bad for him? The guy obviously knew what was going on and thought he was above the rules. I think the collegiate rules of professional sports are ridiculous but they are the rules and using prostitutes to entice players is not walking on some "grey line" and the team and program should be punished for it.

I'm just of the opinion that this kind of thing happens all the time. We don't normally hear these kinds of salacious details but how often do they uncover player payments and academic fraud? Almost seems like it's part of creating an elite program.

Yep I do think it's hypocritical NCAA is making millions and billions of dollars but expect collegiate athletes to not take handouts.

Instead of using these ridiculous incentives to reward and entice players to join a college a real minor league should be set up so players that are good enough to get paid will get paid or get rid of the age requirement the NBA and NFL has imposed.

I doubt there are many scandals involving collegiate baseball players. I would assume most 18 year olds that are good enough to play for the minors wouldn't play for free at college.
