lets set a disclaimer, CP3 is an awesome player, one of the best PG's I have seen.. when you have sustained awesome play for 10+ years.. you are a great player
But why does he always get the benefit of the doubt?
I know I'm beating a dead horse but why does he get to be the puppet master on any team he is on? He has never won a thing... its been 11 years, you gotta make the 3rd round of the playoffs if you truly are what you are labeled as.... a Basketball savant
the 'well' of excuses is drying up
first it was personnel around him, then he went to the clippers
then it was coaching, insert a championship winning coach and the same result happens
the new one is a lack of depth, but the clips seem to have patched that up.
we always throw him in the same class as KD, Lebron and Kobe etc.
but all those guys were getting their ability questioned when they didn't WIN A TITLE... all I'm asking is for cp3 to win 2 playoff series
It's like the Eagles and Chip Kelly... They give him full autonomy of the roster when he hasn't proved a damn thing! he is just labeled a GENIUS, and SAVANT also.
If you were running a business and put in a CEO who doesn't have the results but instead a ton of potential.... your business would collapse
and the clippers are starting to show cracks
This is the last year I give for CP3 to prove me wrong, I don't care how much of a genius he is, or how high his AST/TO ratio is... He doesn't win.
After 10 years you are able to circle a common denominator, and this one is probably Chris Paul, and will only be recognized after he retires
and for people who say look how hard it is to win in this league... well no shit that is how we are able to truly decipher who are the greatest players of all time... winning 8 games in the playoffs shouldn't be this extraneous of a task for a PG that gets compared to Magic, Stockton, and Isiah... or his contemporary peers in LBJ, Kobe and KD

Chip Kelly is a hall of famer and one the greatest ever at his position?
no but he is hailed as a genius and savant, but also has never won anything at any high level of the game
he receives full autonomy of the roster and playbook the same way every team that CP3 is on, they have to play his style of basketball
both are big names with little winning under their belt

You're comparing a coach who's been in the NFL for a couple of seasons to one of the greatest PGs of all-time.
Try to see the folly in that logic.

it is a weak analogy but my main points stand
and one of my main points is, why is chris paul labeled as one of the greatest ever? shouldn't there be the same prerequisite of winning which we pin on every other player who has that claim?

If it's a weak analogy, don't make it the title of your thread.

Chris Paul is not put on par with James and Durant. Last season there were 2 point guards that finished ahead of him in MVP voting.

first of all...YES cp3 is considered one of the greatest PGS ever.... BUT.....where is he on that list??
I definitely dont have him on a short list.
in no particular order and just to name a few
magic

mark price
a.i
steve nash
tony parker
jason kidd

gary payton
ill just stop there....it took jason kidd his whole career to get ONE ring...it took gary payton his WHOLE CAREER to get ONE ring.
a.i has none
steve nash has none
mark price??? NONE
look at cp3's body of work and the consistent level of play over the past decade....thats what makes u a star.....thats what makes u great...remember when deron williams looked like the better pg between the two????
compare their last 4 seasons head to head....deron williams went from a sure hall of famer to not even being remembered 10 years from now.
AND IM DONE.

:lol You're fighting a futile battle OP. For whatever reason, CP3 is absolved of all blame on this forum.
If choking a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter to Houston's role players in the midst of blowing a 3-1 series lead wasn't enough to open people's eyes to how much of a loser this guy is, nothing will.

it makes zero sense to me... around the 6th season we as fans start criticizing players for not winning a title, but CP3 is always exempt from the shit talking... there is always some third party that prevented him from winning, the blame is never on his shoulders
winners get the job done, excuses are for the weak

What specifically do you want him to do better? If you have a criticism of his game, thats fine.
"But but but winning!" is an argument for retards. Period. Simple minds. Its a team sport and hes played his whole career in the west.
A lot of teams have great players, they cant all win it.
Posts like the OP make me want to stab strangers in the face. What dont people understand about 'team sport'? Garnett lost a bunch in Minnesota. So did Pierce before they teamed up late their careers. Wade didnt do anything in between the Shaq and Bron years.
Its a team sport bro. Jesus christ.

How the hell is he "absolved from all the blame"? That's complete bullshit.
When the Clippers lose, do you see any threads about anyone else on his team? No, you see a bunch of "CP3 is overrated loser" threads. I haven't seen one thread criticizing Blake Griffin or Jamal Crawford. It's 100% on CP.
I remember in the playoffs last season against the Spurs when Deandre Jordan offensive goaltended a potential gamewinning layup and the Clippers lost...people were still critizing CP even though he had nothing to do with it.
It's literally the exact opposite of what you're saying. When people discuss CP3, the ONLY thing that gets talked about his his lack of team success in the postseason.

The problem is you are comparing CP3 to other PGs. Op is saying CP3 gets compared to Kobe, LeBron, Wade, and Curry when his talent hasn't ever translated into winning.
If you bring up Tony Parker and Mark Price you can't start talking about them being on a Kobe and LeBron level. Otoh you have nutcases that try to mention CP3 in the same sentence as Kobe, LeBron, and Curry.

does one player choke a lead or teams???? EXACTLY
SECOND of all how many great pgs have won a ring in the last 10 years that werent past their primes????
tony parker,and steph curry...thats it.
YALL say it aint about winning titles its about him not going to the wcf finals??? Thats stupid.....who plays to get to the wcf just to lose???
NOBODY
LETS KEEP IT REAL.....either grade him by his body of work or grade him by not winning rings. Dont bring up this bs about "oh its not about winning titles its about the wcf" cuz thats a weak ass excuse.

Garnett took troy hudson, fred hoiberg and sam cassell to the WCF
Pierce took the 2002 celtics to the ECF with antoine walker
It is a team sport, but CP3 has PLENTY of talent now to at least win 8 playoff games... he is the leader of that squad and he did not have his team prepared to put his foot on the neck of the houston rockets, they lost 3 straight games... unexcusable
if you are truly one of the greatest ever why dont you have same prerequisite of every other greatest player? What other GREAT player couldnt get out of the 2nd round? this excuse was fine during the hornet years... but now the clippers have provided him with ample enough resources to win 8 playoff games! I'm not even saying win a title! just play more than 2 rounds in the playoffs for once, you have had 11 tries at it
I know this post got you riled up, because usually you have your troll glasses on but you had to take them off because I am saying undeniable truths... the guy has never won
there has been change of scenery, personnel and coaching staffs for chris, but the same end result, like I said.. what could the common denominator be?
I mean even James Harden led a team of washed up Howard and him to the WCF... he didnt even have a couple key role players with him and they still did it in the revered Western conference
25 years now we will look back at chris paul and look at how great he was, but the almighty josh smith was just too much for him and his clips.. so how could we expect 2 series wins from one of the greatest point guards ever

i dont see how a cp3 and curry comparison is invalid considering they are both pgs and cp3s BODY OF WORK is better than curry's at the moment.
Now as for comparing cp3 to kobe and other greats from different postions thats not really fair because the first thing people are gonna say is well bron and wade have multiple rings.....OK COOL....LETS LOOK AT WHO THEY PLAYED WITH.
YOU CANT SIT HERE WITH A STRAIGHT FACE AND TELL ME CP3 WOULDNT WIN A RING WITH A PRIME SHAQ OR LEBRON. JUST STOP IT.

Cp3 wouldn't win a ring with Prime Shaq or LeBron. Who is going to close out games in the finals for you on those teams? LeBron? Hack a Shaq? CP3? Those teams are not winning titles.

Kobe is literally, statistically the most unclutch star in the game's history. Yet he and Fisher won titles together.
So as long as CP3 has an Horry or a Fisher he should be good.
