They just PWND Apple with their new Laptop 'Surface Book'.

After years of working on it they finally released what they've been aiming for, the 'future'?

Perhaps.

Hopefully, this means the Pro 3 is gonna get a price slash. Ive been holding off on getting a new laptop for awhile now.
Basically this.

Need a new laptop for myself after my hard drive burned out lol

Microsoft is not a hardware company, hardware isn't their speciality, they can't really optimize production effectively, and their operations are less efficient than other firms.

Hence why the Surface pro and Surface book are more expensive than the iPad pro and MacBook Pro respectively, even when accounting for the 'Apple tax'.

ipad pro compares to the surface 4 pro, not the surface book. comparable surface pro is cheaper that the ipad pro i believe and runs full windows, not a mobile os like the ipad.

the surface book is 200 bucks more than the macbook pro with a better processor, better resolution screen, lighter total weight, touch screen, stylus, longer lasting battery (not tested yet), better gpu (if upgraded), more ports and removable keyboard. pretty damn good value i'd say..

I really want to try out these hololens. It looks like it could have more mainstream appeal than the occulus or morpheus if done right. Going to be interesting to see how all this VR/AR stuff plays out in the next few years.

I picked up a surface pro 3 64GB for $370 a few months back. Can't imagine paying anywhere close to retail when they drop so fast and there's a new model every year.

The surface book base model of $1499 does not have discrete graphics. So fk this price gouging.

Wow. The Surface book looks very impressive, both design and hardware spec.
Although it's a bit pricey, I'm itching to get it.

It's honestly the most exciting piece of technology I've seen in some time. Surface Pro 3 has treated me nicely, but it's not perfect. The Surface Book basically takes away any problems I ever had w/ the SP3 hardware
