View Full Version : You guys, the Clippers only lost to HOU b/c they weren't trying & refs screwed them

Rivers says his team didn't take Houston seriously. He had to repeat himself in film sessions and walk-throughs. "San Antonio got our full attention," Rivers says. "The Rockets, for whatever reason, didn't." Rivers praises Houston for rallying, but he remembers every Clippers mistake and every perceived injustice from the officials in alarming detail.

Some players, damningly, agree with Rivers’s claim that they didn’t grant Houston enough respect. “We weren’t on guard against Houston,” says Jamal Crawford. “We never thought we could lose three in a row to them.”

Rivers agrees. “You need luck in the West,” he says. “Look at Golden State. They didn’t have to play us or the Spurs. But that’s also a lesson for us: When you have a chance to close, you have to do it.”

three in a row
Rivers was part of 34-123 in those last three games, so he shouldn't bring up refs (because the series loss certainly isn't on BG/CP3/DAJ). [EDIT: Hadn't read the link. Thought it was a comment by Austin Rivers. Still, this is the second time Doc has blown a 3-1 lead, first coming with Orlando, out of the like 8 or 9 times total this has happened in league history, so some of it is on him.]

Houston was a very good team. For some reason, each year, people want to bury the Clippers and Rockets. I get that their stars in CP3/Griffin and Harden/Dwight have plenty of detractors, but every single year, fans routinely underrate both squads.

And who's fault is it for not trying..Harden?

I actually think Houston didn't take them seriously in the game 1 because Paul was out. It was a stupid series.

The Clippers are the most whiny team in the league. Every time they lose it's the refs' fault.

So that is going to be the scapegoat for last playoffs meltdown. Doc has a reason for every single post season beat down. And it is never his own fault or his teams fault

Check this Glenn, last year you became infamous. The only HC in history to lose multiple playoff series after leading 3-1. But it's not his fault, obviously.

A team didn't have your attention in the 2nd round of the playoffs? That's embarrassing

The Clips do seem to complaint a lot. You can't give excuses for choking.

What I do know is that the Clips have won 56+ games the last 3 years and they significantly upgraded their roster. It's not rocket science. They should be able to win close to 60 games and legitimately compete for a title this year. No excuses.

:oldlol: Especially coming from a team and a superstar PG who has never passed the 2nd Round.

Doc should have played them that T-Mac 2003 playoff post-game interview where he said something like, "I feels great to finally reach the 2nd round" only to lose 3 straight and get knocked out.

Doc's been through a 3-1 chokejob before, but this is another lesson learned 3-1 chokejob?

Doc still whining about refs..no surprise.

How could the Clippers not take the Rockets seriously in game 7..?

When they have never gotten to the WCF and you're 1 win away...were they not trying then....

That's just straight up embarrassing. You can't be in cruise control out west in the playoffs, and it speaks very badly on Doc and the leadership team that they let that happen.

As for still harping on about the refs? There's a reason so many people struggle to support this current Clippers team, and their constant whining on court is a big part of that. It happens, shut up and play.

dont like clippers, but u ppl are funny.
why even bother defending rockets? Doc was right, houston/portland/dallas were irrelevant in the playoff.

it wasnt the luck that rockets overturned the table, it was a miracle. like incoming of jesus.

Doc isn't right about jack shit and it has nothing to do with defending the Rockets.

Rather than just saying we ****ed up and dropped the ball, he's now saying the team and himself got overconfident and pulled up when the going got good. These are things you don't say and after this offseason the Clippers PR is in shambles and probably have a huge target on their back.

Turns out Houston wasn't so irrelevant when they pulled off the comeback. Just imagine if Houston was actually healthy and not missing their starting PG and PF ? Probably beat the Clippers in less than that.

even if rockets have a healthy roaster, josh smith is still running wild on court, jason terry will not able to get enough play time, beside, harden will still sit
on the sideline cheering.
if cp3 wasnt injured against spur, u actually think Bev can contain him?
c'mon bruh, we are talking about cp3 + JJ+ BG + DJ line up.

i stand on my point. The come back game rockets had was a miracle, by josh smith and corey brewer, 2 bench guys..
