Why does age matter???? They were producing. I mean come on do the situations have to be EXACTLY the same? Neither had much of a bench. The Rockets had Willis the Sixers had Jones

Age does matter, an old team within a long season might slow down come playoff time, why do you think Pop manages the Spurs players minutes so much? He knows his important players are up there in age so he doesn't play them too many minutes in the regular season.

I agree both teams didn't have much of a bench, but I might take Jones over Willis, Jones at that time was still one of the top defenders in the league. And you are not addressing the huge flaw Houston had at the PG spot, starting a rookie PG who didn't last long in the NBA, Elie was a nice player who started for Houston, but if he was on that '85 Philly team he wouldn't be starting over Erving or Toney.

Again, Philly was a more well rounded team, they had All-Star caliber players in pretty much every position, a top 6th man and had better mix of youth and experience.

I dont care about age so much as i do results. The Rocket name players were still producing. Hell the Jazz key players were old as well. I memtioned the Lakers and you said they were too young. Its always an excuse lol. The fact is the Jazz beat some pretty talented teams.

The Sixers were more well rounded but the Rockets had a better big three.

I agree that Cheeks was better than Maloney. That should go without saying.

Im not saying the Rockets and Sixers were exactly the same. Thats impossible. But theyre very similar. And blows a huge hole in your theory that there were no great teams in the league at the time.

If Hakeem, Barkley, & Drexler were all in their prime it would have been a great team, all 3 were still very good, but its obvious they were on their last legs. And it didn't help that they had a weak supporting cast who were also ancient, teams lose because they are too young or too old all the time, it goes both ways, in this case Houston was pretty old. Of course there were very talented teams in the 90's, I'm not denying this. But are the top teams of the 90s better than the top teams of the 80's, the answer is No.

The third best team in the 80s does not even have a hall of famer. Not one. And even if and when Sidney Moncrief does make it, hed be a fringe hall of famer. Hes gonna be a 25th ballot hall of famer???? Come on. The Knicks and Pacers are two teams comparable to the Bucks of the 80s and theyre guaranteed to have one first ballot hall of famer.

Im not gonna sit here and go back and forth about a couple teams because in your opinion they have to be exactly alike. The 85 Sixers, 98 Lakers, and 97 Rockets were all the same type of team. Not exactly, but very similar. In talent.

The 80s has four teams comsidered alltime great the 90s have three.

In my opinion the Bulls are the greatest ever you feel it is the Celtics. And whats ironic is that you claim to be a Laker fan. That is only 22 or 23 years old, and will sit here and argue about how weak the 90s were, but then say that the second best team ever is the 96 Bulls. Go figure
