Apparently it has active weather and geology and they've said they are making a huge announcement about it Thursday. 2015 will apparently be a huge year for space in future text books.

Did you know... That Jupiter has 67 moons?

16 of them were discovered post 2003

How come those don't get an "announcement"?

Lol, Pluto is like the least interesting planet. It's so dull, it's not even considered a planet anymore.

It's supposed to have liquid nitrogen lakes and has been theorised to have water below those. People are speculating this could be about finding signs of past life in it's ice. Not little space men but signs of primitive lifeforms

How big of a dumbass are you? It's not considered a planet because it was not considered to be unique, but that's since changed and this announcement will quite possibly retitle its status.

There's a lot of interesting things about it as someone mentioned some of them. Or how about it has a moon in which they orbit around each other... so it never actually moves relative to itself.

Antarctica has penguins and seals. The arctic has polar bears, seals and humans who wear seal skin. Pluto has something similar. Dare I say, incredibly intelligent life. NASA bout rock the world. USA bout to lay claim

Pluto is very cold! The temperature on Pluto ranges from -387 to -369 Fahrenheit (-233 to -223 Celsius) For comparison, the coldest place on Earth, which can reach -126 Fahrenheit, would seem quite warm compared to Pluto.

When I googled how cold it is :oldlol: It's possible that Pluto had/has it's own versions of Polar Bears and Penguins... with thick fur. Can't wait

They've found organisms that can live in ice and lava on earth, likely though it'll just be they've found the water and best case evidence that there are chemicals produced by life forms or something. There was a theory though that there's liquid water below it's surface.

We need to colonize it and get that water soon.

I meant to say lava tubes. The fissures made by lava deep in the earth freeze up and are similar to what they think they could find on other planets and they've found bacteria in cores from those. They've found live in active volcanos though but yeah not in hot lava lol

Sounds so stupid. If they have something worth announcing, announce it. These announcements of announcements just trying to manufacture hype.
announcements announcing announcements are phucking retarded. People will stop listening if the announcements are just always about new chemicals found in clouds and shit like that.

If it's not about aliens, the public doesn't care.

Oh shut the fck up. NASA hasn't built fans across the younger generation and the broader population, since, well.. ever. They're finally using social networks and the Internet to broadcast their popularity not only to inform us but to build hype and foundation to continue to support their spendings.

I'd rather hear about new findings from nasa than some Muslim extremist blowing their own people to pieces and the bullshit politics that brainwash people.

shut the fck up yourself son. No one cares if they discover traces of argon in the clouds or shit like that. Bring on the aliens, or stop overhyping.

This ultimately hurts NASA. When they actually do have something cool to announce, no one will be paying attention because NASA is conditioning us to expect boring announcements from them.

KK so the 'news' about Pluto is that it has a blue colored atmosphere, like earth's , though not made of the same stuff.

And it also has pockets of frozen water in the form of red-colored ice around the equator. Still unknown why the ice is red, but it's definitely frozen h20.

The ice shows up red in true color images however, they've colorized the patches in blue to make them easier to see in the above image.

Interesting.. Why the fck is the ice red? Is there a level of cold we are unknown too and what occurs at such frozen temperatures?

Edit: Maybe water isn't being frozen but perhaps another substance?

They speculate it might be tied to the atmosphere particle colors. It's currently unknown though.

NASA gonna NASA. I knew this "big announcement" would be about nothing other than some gas in the atmosphere composition.

The only way this discovery turns out to be cool is if the ice is red because it's full of frozen blood from an ancient alien war.

Is the NASA program really worth all those billions, maybe trillions of dollars?

Is the production to cost ratio really worth it?

I don't see it.

That money has far more worth to cutting down the foreign debt America has or some other cause.

Now that we have those derivatives, we can move on?

I probably hit a nerve with some of the space fans here, but I think trillions of dollars can make better change in other areas.
