They have a much more complete roster than they previously did and it all starts down low. Wilt Tavares and Tiago Splitter provide much needed size down low that the Hawks were desperately needing last year. Also the development of young players like Dennis schroder who will be a most improved candidate and Mike muscala make this squad deadly

Improved defensive team, but much worse 3pt shooting team and that's what got them to the ecf last year. I would be worried.

The only player they lost is demarre Carroll. How can they be MUCH worse.

Starting lineup last year
Teague -decent 3
Kyle- great 3
demare- good 3
milly- decent 3
horford- no 3

This year
Teague- decent 3
Kyle- great 3, but could see heavy decline this year

horford- no 3
splitter- no 3

That's not gonna be the lineup. Thabo or bazemore will likely start at the 3

both significant downgrades from Demare.

They will be a good regular season team again that doesn't make any real noise in the playoffs.

Carroll is a top 10 SF and by far ATLs best perimeter defender. He is great offball, hits the glass, spreads the floor, has no plays called for him and is one of the best glue guys. He barely turns the ball over as well. Thabo is washed and has been for a while can still be good on defense but not consistent. On offense he is a big negative and has been for a while. Yall be missing Carroll soon especially in the 1st round when ya get bounced

Thabo will be playing. He was our best perimeter defender

Still a team made up of role players with no alpha. They'll have another great regular season in the terrible East and then fizzle out in the playoffs again.

I thought the Hawks losing in embarrassing fashion last playoffs as no. 1 seed scared you Hawks fans away for good?

It's not about the preseason game. It's about the roster I'm seeing and the team put together. I'm expecting another ECF appearance at minimum.

They'll win 50-53 games if healthy, but have things against them.

-They'll be the hunted instead of the hunter this year.

-This team has a lot of players that have had injury issues. They stayed reasonably healthy for most of last season (with the exception of Thabo) and that is very unlikely to happen again.

-The loss of Carroll does hurt this team. It's so thin at the 2/3 spot if Thabo goes down, and we know Splitter misses at least 20 games or more almost every single year.

Most likely it will be another solid year, but they have no chance to beat out Cleveland unless Lebron gets injured.

The Hawks are basically where they were in 1996 and 1997. They'd have good years, but they were never going to beat the Bulls in the playoffs. The same for this Hawks team if they run into Cleveland in the playoffs.

Right now, I agree. But maybe my hawks can change my mind, but I doubt it.

That's not a knock on the Hawks either. Almost impossible to beat Cavs in the conference finals because so many factors are against you. Biggest being officiating, for instance.
