He is actually a worse one. Literally every indictment an idiot would have on LeBron you could give it to Westbrook x2.

A shorter more ferocious one. I don't know about better though.

This isn't surprising. Play a guy like Steve Novak instead of Thabo Sefolosha and the Thunder are impossible to defend. Westbrook could make a serious push for the MVP this year given how well he did in the past with much worse spacing and bigs than he's going to have around him this year.

Westbrook didn't get enough credit for getting 7-8 assists a game with a starting 5 including Perkins and Sefolosha and a gradeschool offense ran by Brooks.

The picture from the article above says "Only K-mart can meet Russ at the basket"!!!!!... What has this game come to - the 3-point shooting often means no rim protection..

Wow.. All the diagrams in that article show how defenders must guard 3-point shooters in today's game, which forces defenders to help/recover from further distances and opens up the lane for offensive players.

Accordingly, today's quick, wing players have such an immense advantage over the wings of previous eras, who didn't have teammates opening up the floor like the red sea with 3-pointers and enabling them get all the way to the rim.. Instead, the lack of 3-point shooting allowed defenders to occupy the paint - the sheer number of players in the paint frequently prevented quick guards from even CONSIDERING penetration - mid-range pull-ups were the common fallback option (see gif above).

How would Westbrook do if the lane was blocked by sheer traffic and he had to pull-up for a bunch of mid-range?.. And you think his FG% is bad now... :facepalm..

that's not what I'm face-palming..

I'm face-palming how much worse Westbrook would be in prior eras when there was a lot more than just K-mart waiting for him at the rim.

Are you insinuating that he wouldn't change his game?. WB might not be the smartest player, but dude is a beast and he'd destroy in ANY Era.

If westbrook was a better lebron he could run a offense like LBJ can from the point and won a title already. LBJ have always been the best point on every team he been on including now :facepalm

Westbrook doesn't do anything better than LeBron. Unless you count chucking a midrange jumper with 20 seconds left on the shot clock while the best scorer on the planet is wide open on the wing.

I'm starting to think that Insidehoops message boards purposely just says dumb shit just to get a reaction out of people.

One thing Westbrook is for sure better at is making the game a living hell for whoever has to guard him. Not that LBJ isn't a tough cover, with him defenders get those stretches where he jab steps for 15 seconds just to pass the ball off, giving them a nice breather.

And people can say that Westbrook's pace is a bad thing, but it was really only highlighted as such because of their coaches ineptitude. Put him in an actual offensive system like he will be in this year and he's gonna be head and shoulders above most of the league, probably a much more serious MVP candidate than people are taking him for.

If players in the 80's and 90's could shoot like they can today, maybe the paint would be cleaner for them :confusedshrug:

This open paint doesn't exist unless you have the shooters to draw the opponents out.

John Wall's first few seasons featured no good players who were also shooters. He could get into the paint whenever he wanted, he was just going to meet 3 guys, all keyed on him, every single time.

Lebron is on entire different planet on almost all aspects of basketball than Westbrook and I say this has huge Westbrook fan.
