The Lakers are 14 points per 100 possessions better with Kobe off the court this season than they are with Kobe on the court. Among all players with at least 1,000 minutes this season, only Kobe's teammate Jordan Hill has had a more negative effect on his team's production than Bryant himself.

Kobe ranks among the worst players in the league this season in a number of categories:

• 124th in field goal percentage (third-worst among qualified players)

• 103rd in 3-point percentage (fifth-worst)

• 74th in player efficiency rating

• 361st in win shares

Kobe's 0.1 win shares are the fewest of the 73 players to play at least 1,200 minutes this season[

Pretty hard to find a comparable player to Kobe.

He's inefficient.
He's a negative defender.
He's turnover prone.
He can easily turn into a black hole on offense.

Kobe Bryant could be comparable to Derrick Rose. Congratulations.

a) kobe can and will be just as efficient as any of those other guys mentioned

b) kobes defense isnt elite anymore. but its not like anyones dropping more than 8-10 ppg on him nightly

c) kobe averaged 3 turnovers for his 6apg last year .. big deal

d) kobe only hogs when he has sh*t teammates. i feel this year will be a different story

They don't hurt their team when they are on the court. Not to mention that it's a projection. Smart will only get better, since he's a 21 y/o sophomore, while Kobe is old as dirt and will only decline worse.

The Lakers are better when Kobe doesn't play. What happens if he actually doesn't play you're asking? They blow out the future champs: http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400578718

What happens if he does play? They lose by 21, with Kobe taking more than 33% of the teams shots, missing more than half of them, being a -33 in his time on the court. http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201411160LAL.html

Are u seriously justifying 7ppg by saying he doesn't "hurt" his team?

He doesn't help either. U throw Kobe on the celtics and they score 15- 20 more ppg easy.

Kobe's already a huge, inmense black hole on defense + inefficient scorer (even more) + ball stopper + attempts ridiculously bad shots.

BTW, a player with 10ppg on .40 FG% can help a team a LOT more than Kobe is right now thanks to defense and intangibles. Would anyone take Kobe over Draymond Green?
