He'll play like it this year, but team record will get him overlooked. In 2-3 years when they start pushing for the playoffs, that is when he will be viewed as a superstar.

This.
He's going to need to average at least 22 PPG though

Has Wiggins had a slow preseason thus far? He must have for PB, aka ISH's all time tard, to post about him.

Wiggins played a lot of ball with Canada this summer and that just finished up a few weeks ago. He will be back to the 20ppg pace he was on in the second half of last season. You remember where he won rookie of the year in a walk.

This year though he will be taking passes from a real pg and not Zach Lavine who with his 27% turnover rate on pick and rolls made it nearly impossible for the Wolves to generate any offense.

Add in Towns and the defensive helpside suddenly can no longer focus on just Wiggins.

Kid is going to gonna have a big year.

dude is so raw. It would be a miracle if he became a superstar. dude has no go to move, doesnt have elite vision, handles are average, jumper is average, size as far as weight is below average, dude brings nothing to the game right now besides elite athleticism.

I don't think Wiggins will ever become an NBA superstar. Why? Because he doesn't have the mentality for it.

Wiggins strikes me as a very timid, soft, and seemingly somewhat weak-minded player who just doesn't have the hunger/desire to take things to another level. While he'll definitely be very good and may even make an all-star team or two, I highly doubt he'll ever become a legitimate superstar.

You obviously havent seen him in the 2nd half of the last season. After KG lighted up fire under his ass Wiggins became very aggressive, and had loads of great posters too. There were like 50 threads about it on this very forum.

I hope that the preseason is not an indication of how Wiggins will go. I would have thought someone with a good off-season would have had bigger flashes than his rookie teammate... I guess you don't go 100 in preseason? Thought we might've seen something though..

Term superstar has been used too loosely,he'll become a superstar once they break up golden state ,clippers,Memphis,okc..Duncan and the gang, Kobe retires from the league then the media/league will build him up to "carry the torch" to be the face.

ESPN needs that marketable perimeter star to latch onto with Kobe's decline and Lebron's inevitable decline, and he's on the top of that list right now.

lol these Wiggins homers.

Wiggins has not even broken 15 PER. He was only behind LaVine last year in leading his team in NEGATIVE PLUS MINUS.

The fact is simple. Wiggins in game. Wolves score less points than their opponents.

This kid is pure unadulterated trash. Role player at best. I don't even expect him to become a really good defensive player like Iggy because he lacks the basketball IQ.

A lot of good players had trash rookie years. We can judge his impact this year.

You know who else was trash as a rookie? Kevin Durant:

Barely over 15 PER, 52 TS%, negative +/-, 0.04 win shares per 48, 2.4 apg to 2.9 topg and 0.4 OFFENSIVE WIN SHARES. 0.4!

Yeah, or Kobe, he was worse. http://goo.gl/BcvdcI

And yet he is Top10 player of All-time, and Durant probably will be in Top20.

Give boy Wiggs few years more (at least) till you start judging.

Gotta love tearing a rookie season apart and pigeon holing a player based on one season, it makes complete sense. I mean really, he's already 20 years old, he should know everything he needs to know to be a superstar by now, right? Seeing as he came into the league as a complete package with no potential for improvement, what we have seen is what we will get for his career, right?
Gotta hate those young guys who come in with no potential and easily win rookie of the year. #1 picks aren't supposed to be that good, how dare they give the trophy to that Canadian scrub.
Damn GMs know nothing!!

Well, OK, that last part is almost true in a lot of cases. But really... everyone is ripping on a 2nd year guy who was scouted with HUGE potential, he wins rookie of the year on a team that didn't even know what plays they were running most trips down the floor, helps team Canada to one a good showing in an international tourny over the summer and has an arguably improved team around him this season. How do you rip on a guy like that, just because he's not on "your" team?

Why don't you guys pick on players who have unmet expectations instead of guys who haven't had long enough in the league to really be judged as a complete player and who appear to be on the right track to gain some of that untapped potential. It's like calling Jabari Parker a bust because he can't stay healthy, quit being so silly.

Dion Waiters.
 :facepalm

people don't know what they're watching

this guy isn't shook like bennett, he's just humble

he's on a team with tons of burgeoning young talent too so don't expect him to take over

instead he'll just keep patiently working on that fadeaway, perfecting his footwork in the post, learning how to work off rubio one play then off lavine the next.

wiggins won't see much spotlight the next 2-3 years but it'll get to the point where the wolves will start to make noise and the spotlight on towns will drift and wiggins will emerge as heir to bran's throne

He just dropped 21pts in 19mins against the Raps.

19ppg
6rpg
4apg

Will be his stats this season, and if they end the Zach Lavine as a starter experiment early he will get more ppg

Yeah because 19-6-4 is a huge jump from 17-5-2.

I think his second half numbers were higher than what I am predicting for year two, but yeah, I am on crack. If I am injesting smokable cocaine it is making me too conservative on his stats if anything.

This is why you are the dumbest poster on the board.

He was playing 41 MPG to put up those average 17/2 stats, and mostly in blowouts losses. He also had no signature moment last year.

dumb, really really dumb.

history don't lie, only you do, and it has been proven again and again on this site.

Lets look at Monday's highlights:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMBCvoZMKLk

3 pointers - check
post up - check
penetrate and dish - check
alley oop - check
rebound putback - check
and ones - check
off the dribble creating - check
dribble pull up - check
four point play - check

all in 19 minutes, scoring in every way conceivable.

can score in every manner and he is still a raw as fakk 20 year old, but yeah his rookie year was his ceiling.

Wiggins just doesnt have it. He looks awkward whenever he has the ball. He doesnt have the handles of guys like Lebron or Durant and hes not a great shooter either.

He'll be a better version of Rudy Gay but thats nothing special

Rudy Gay put up 21/6/4 last year on fairly efficient shooting. A better version of Rudy Gay is a damn good player

Wiggins' ceiling is pretty much a Rudy Gay.

Lack of handles, vision and basketball IQ will hold him back.
