Lakers have a team loaded with guards, Bass Hibbert, and Randle although the guards aren't bad...it won't work, UNLESS they hit the 3 at a high rate this season.

Roy Hibbert is 7'2"...

They could have a well-rounded roster that competes for an 8 seed. Kobe could score 20 points a game and shock everyone. The young guards could develop into a solid pair and Nick Young could compete for 6th man of the year.

Or, Hibbert and Randle could both shoot 41% from the field and Young and Kobe could chuck them out of games and the young guards just might not have much potential.

We'll see. More than likely this team will prove to have very little talent, and on top of that they'll manage to be less than the sum of their parts (as Randle, Hibbert and Young have always been on teams that were)

I agree.

Also GS are pretenders, Draymond Green is like what? 6"7?

Although I disagree with OP, there's a lot of racism in this thread.

i'm really hoping for a roy hibbert resurgence. i know its unlikely because he's big and slow and weak and fragile, but he was knocking down baby hooks a few years ago with some regularity. using good patience and touch to avoid the more athletic defenders around the rim. playing some of the smartest interior defense in the league, always. he still seems to me like he can be a really heady vet over the next five years... but for some reason these free agent headcases keep wandering into the lakers starting lineup thinking somehow that spectacular spotlight is just what they need when its really just what they don't.

can he be a decent player or is this a laker signing like jeremy lin where his name is more important than his game? worst case scenario he's a very nice compliment to what randle does well.

ular spotlight is just what they need when its really just what they don't.

can he be a decent player or is this a laker signing like jeremy lin where his name is more important than his game?

i think he can. he's shed some weight this summer, knowing that in today's NBA hes going to have to run. Even if he doesnt bring any offense to this team (which i think he will), his knowledge of defensive rotations alone, is a huge plus that the Lakers havent had in a couple seasons. He'll be there when his teammates get beat off the dribble, or leave a lane open. and seeing as hes a great defensive communicator, he'll get his teammates to buy into rotating over to his man, when he's playing as the helper. You can already see him talking to the young guys after they miss rotations.

hibbert generally starts the season off pretty well. but its by midseason that he just completely disappears. I pray thats not the case this year.

If all of this pans out, he can be part of the Lakers franchise for a good handful of years.

another thing thats exciting to watch is that hibbert has never played with a PF like randle. Randles going to attack the basket as much as he can, and a lot of times, hibberts man will leave him to help. so expect roy to feast on put backs and offensive boards this year. itll keep him happy, and hopefully engaged all season

Out of all the reasons the Lakers won't make the playoffs, being short is the only one worth mentioning?
