at the 1998 Nike Hoops Summit, Dirk went up against a Rashard Lewis and Al Harrington led US team, winning MVP and scoring 33pts.

Before we go comparing every tall European who can shoot to Dirk, realize that when Dirk was young, he was an athletic freak. It's extremely rare to see a 7' guy who moves with the fluidity of a young Dirk. His first bucket is at 1:48, and he blows by a guy from the 3-point line for a foul on a big dunk attempt.

at 5:40 Dirk crosses a guy up in the backcourt and takes it coast-to-coast. He basically gets fouled every time he tried to drive, and he gets Rashard Lewis fouled out of the game.

Skip to 9:00 if you want to see his creepy shooting coach lookin like a wax statue with bug eyes

Fastest and best shooter 7' baller ever .

He definitely wasn't the fastest 7' player. How about David Robinson?

I'm just trying to show these young dudes that guys like Porzingis are not on the athletic level that Dirk was

Dirk will always be defined by 2011. The year he reached the promised land and defeated LeBron's super team. Dude looked unstoppable during that playoff run. 2011 Championship Mavericks were beast.

They epitomized our current trend of passing-shooting based offenses. Most of the time they had 4 guys who could shoot 3's on the court, they had a star who willingly used his talents to break down the defense for others, and they had Jason Kidd setting a great example for sharing the ball.

It's no accident that the last season the Knicks were good was when they had JKidd. He worked well alongside Melo just like he did with Dirk.

Nikkas forget how athletic Dirk was in his younger years. For a 7ft Euro doesnt get more athletic than him. He could run the floor like a SF, had good footspeed, fluid athleticism and mechanics to his movement but lateral quickness was always a problem for him especially on defense. Someone posted a lil clip of the Hoop Summit where Dirk dropped 50 on Pippen as a teen but i cant find it

And yet he was even better in 2009, and just as good in 2010 as 2011

With ball ? I choose Dirk . Of course , Admiral more athletic than Dirk but Dirk had like 6'5 guy ball dribblings at between 98-08 .

Yea, some people forget or don't know just how athletic Dirk was in his younger days... Calling him an athletic freak is a clear exaggeration though (at least when compared to his peers), and I don't really think that he's a "legit" 7 footer.

7 footers who were athletic freaks? Wilt, Shaq, D-Rob Sampson, Kareem... Not someone like Dirk (if he's even that tall).

Fastest and best shooter 7' baller ever .

I consider agility and body control to be a bigger part of athleticism than most folks do. Still, maybe "freak" was an exaggeration.

You need to watch more basketball dick face. Hakeem and Robinson were both faster than Dirk.

Dick face? I'm not your father .

And Dirk faster than Hakeem or Admiral , with ball.

I said you look like a P3nis. You need to watch more highlights on youtube. Dirk is definitely agile for a big man, but he ain't the fastest big man in NBA History.

Fastest and best shooter 7' baller ever .
Hes the best shooter ever regardless of size. He is easily the GOAT midrange shooter and the most complete overall shooter, out in the 3, elbows, midrange, fadeaways, pullup, curls, pickandpop, off dribble, FT he got it all

I wouldnt call Kareem an athletic freak. Great, great athlete but he doesnt belong with those other names there he isnt in their realm athletically.

Dirk is legit 7footer. Timmy is 6'10 or 11 and Dirk has always been clearly taller

Those dudes I've mention had lots of that too... Yea, imo, that's CLEARLY an exaggeration (again, at least, compared to some of his peers).

Talking about 1970's, young(er) Kareem... In my opinion, he definitely does belong with those names, not above or even QUITE good as some of them if you want to say it, but same level...

Dude stood over 7'1, was crazy mobile and fluid for his size, could jump very well, pretty fast and quick, tremendous coordination, very explosive, strong enough, extremely durable...

Dirk's pre-draft measurement was 6'10; he was 20 then... Really doubt he grew to 7'... He never looked like a "legit" 7' to me.
Shaq was measured as being 7'0 without shoes, even once said he's really 6'11.5... Dirk was not as tall as him.

I said fastest , not best athlete and i added "with ball" in my second post .

So, Dirk is the fastest 7' ever to you? :wtf:

Yea, not even with the ball...
