Was he even a top 5 player in the league during any of his seasons? Maybe 2006, but didnt he miss the playoffs that season or get bounced in the first round?

I didnt even know Kobe was on the Lakers.

All those guys were better players than Kobe. Don't care how long Kobe's been in LA, he doesn't measure up to these guys.

Mikan was a pioneer, ahead of his time. Easily better than Kobe.

Wilt and West of course were better. Pioneers. And Kareem.

Magic, yep, much better. Helped saved the game.

Shaq was obviously a million times better, carried Kobe to 3 rings. Didn't play as long in LA but achieved more than Kobe has in 20 years. He's ahead too.

And just in terms of individual brilliance Elgin was much better than Kobe. He's ahead as well.

He made the playoffs and choked a 3-1 lead.

Possibly the worst playoff choke ever. Worse than Bron in 2011, imo.

Nah man... Kobe isn't even a top 50 player all-time.

Much less a top 5 Laker. Try top 20.

Let us please keep board discussion on current All-Star level players and Top 10 GOAT's.

Kobe is clearly the GOAT laker and is one of 3 players in the discussion of GOAT basketball players, many experts even have him as the clearcut #1.

So in answer to your thread question OP, yes.

WayOfWade

Realistically, the only players on that list who have a case over Kobe are (in no particular order) Magic, Shaq, Kareem, and Wilt Chamberlain. That's talking about overall careers though

He's second. Would be third if Kareem spent more time there.

Mikan also has the same rings as Kobe while being far, far more dominant overall

West is also a superior player, while being a far better finals performer

SouBeachTalents
10-12-2015, 01:53 PM
He wasn't even a top 5 player on any of his championship teams

kennethgriffin
10-12-2015, 01:55 PM
Well hes got nearly every record imaginable

Hes tied for the most rings

Won all of them with only 1 other hof'r

Magic and kareem each had 4 hall of fame teammates

Kobes played the most seasons in nba history with one team period. Not just with L.A.

Magic, shaq and west all said kobe is the goat laker

Kobe has the best finals record of any laker 5 for 7... magic was 5 for 9

Kobe in his 20th "preseason" laker season is averaging 29ppg on 53% fgs per 36minutes... so hes more than likely going to have yet another allstar/all nba year if healthy

Kobe will have had nearly DOUBLE the amount of allstar/all nbas of any other laker

He has the laker high (81 points)

I think kobe is the goat laker.. sure

That's stretching it a bit.

However, I will say that he wasn't the most impactful player on any of his championship teams. You can even argue that he wasn't the best player either. (certainly not in 00-02) Probably was in '09, and '10 was a toss up IMO. Gasol was great.

That's an understatement.

Just like we saw this year when Iggy won FMVP it's not ALL about most points scored, especially when you take BY FAR the most shots. (Kobe)

Curry was the leading scorer and got zero votes on the winning team. Those FMVP's were robbed from Pau's resume, which is why context should always be practiced when talking about individual players and their so called accomplishments.

Pau did not win a single playoff game in his career before teaming with Kobe and getting carried by Mamba to multiple titles.

Apparently Kobe, Kobe's mom, and Kobe's wife are experts.

Strike that. He sued his mom last year. She probably doesn't even like him.
