View Full Version : LeBron James Had It Easy in the East? So Did Michael Jordan!

ISH claims LeBron had it easy in the east and it's weak but what do you call MJ's east? Who was really going to come out of the east? The Knicks? The Knicks came out of the east when Jordan retired twice and they lost both times lol. Who was going to conquer that dynasty? I don't see how LeBron gets discredited for being in a weak conference but MJ gets swept under the rug. I don't get it.

Don't get me started on the expansion in 1995. I remember everyone says how weak the 90's were at the time. Many of you don't even know that. I was alive and saw all of the games because I lived in Champaign and Park Forest, Illinois, so we got all of the Bulls games no matter what.

If Jordan didn't retire twice he would have like 8 or 9 rings. Let's be for real. I think the Rockets would have won in 1994 but they wouldn't have won in 1995 because that team was worse than the 1994 one. They are lucky they got Drexler. The Sonics and the Suns were the only challenge the Bulls had, in my opinion. The rest of the teams weren't even close.

This is not a troll thread. I've been watching old games from different teams in the 90's for days now and DonDadda posted a clip of the Bulls-Knicks series in 1992 and it got me thinking.

East teams MJ's Bulls had to face in the 90's:

Bad Boys Pistons
Ewing's Knicks
Hardaway & Mourning's Heat
Motumbo's Hawks
Miller's Pacers
Shaq & Penny's Magic
Price & Daugherty's Cavs

No one called the East weak in the 90s. It was just as stacked as the West back then.

It wasn't as bad as Lebron (the player I root for) east. But it was weaker than Kobe Bryant's (the player I hate) west, which is the quality standard conference competition is measured by.

Bad Boys Pistons - MJ beat them when they were past their prime

Ewing's Knicks - Inconsistent offense.

Hardaway & Mourning's Heat - Inconsistent offense

Motumbo's Hawks - Lol, really???

Miller's Pacers - Their best player was a 20 ppg shooting guard

Shaq & Penny's Magic - MJ only beat them when Horace Grant got injured

Price & Daugherty's Cavs - Soft team

All trolling aside, MJ played a tougher East. LeBron is playing in probably the worst conference in NBA History.

I am a huge Lebron fan but even I, the biggest LeBron stan of all time (I followed him to Miami and back to Cleveland), cant deny the weak eastern conference.

I am glad my personal God LeKeng James colluded in the East, this gives him the chance to get to the finals year after year.

Bad Boy Pistons = Pierce, Ray, Garnett Celtics
Ewing's Knicks = Paul George's Pacers
Mutombo's Hawks = LOL
Miller's Pacers = Derozen's Toronto Raptors
Shaq and Penny's Magic = Wade and Bosh's Heat
Price and Daugherty's Cavs = Wall and Beal's Wizards

It's close, but the 90's East is just slightly weaker than today's East.

lol how did Jordan have it easy in the East? It was the opposite for MJ, as no team ever forced the Bulls to a Game 7 in the Finals and he was never on the brink of losing a Finals series while Knicks and Pacers

He had to face prime Bird and the Badboy Pistons in the late 80s, in the 90s you had great teams like the Knicks, Pacers, Magic...

Bran for the most part has played in weak conferences with the exception of a few seasons, but he's had it much easier than MJ.

:facepalm

So far, most are just asserting groundless generalities about good or bad each individual's competition supposedly was (team-wise); let's start substantiating one side of the argument with actual facts.

I think this would be a good illustration to start off with...

https://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/lebron-hate.jpg?w=599

If you want to actually individualize the comparison between them, however, it's easier to just cross-compare their individual stats to cross-evaluate each player's impact on the teams, but there's undoubtedly a reason that argument is being shunned to begin with. :confusedshrug:

Reality:

https://nbcprobasketballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/image3.png

Worst team in the East during the Bulls championship run: 1997 Vancouver Grizzlies (15-67)

Worst team in the East during the Heat's championship run: 2012 Charlotte Bobcats (7-59) *Lockout season, worst win% ever*

The East in '96-'97 alone had 6 50-win teams, including 2 60-win squads.

LeBron has played his whole career in the shittiest conference ever. Notice that the one time post '07 that Bron's team couldn't advance past the 2nd round was also the one time in the past 15 years where the East actually had a winning record as a conference.

Probably just a coincidence though.

It's relative don. Lebron has shit teams too. But he's just so great that he LITERALLY turns them into good teams.

Case study #1
Cleveland Cavaliers
2008-2009 66 wins
2009-2010 62 wins
2010-2011 19 wins

Case study #2
Miami Heat
4 straight finals
2 time champs
Lebron leaves
Can't make playoffs in the so called weakest conference of all time despite replacing Lebron with 3 all-star caliber players

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I wonder what's happening here

The reality is he is

It is all relative

Shaq and Penny's Magic = Wade and Bosh's HeatSo... Lebron pretty much went 2/4 with Shaq and Penny... and Kobe was able to 3 peat(including a jawdropping 15-1 playoffs) with essentially just Bosh?

Your logic, not mine.

This is the biggest myth ever. Kobetards literally make stuff up to try to make Kobe look better.

Wade 2011-2014 with Lebron: Distance of FGA DECREASED, most efficient years

Irving 2015 with Lebron: Distance of FGA DECREASED playing with Lebron and most efficient year

Love 2015 with Lebron: distance of FGA didn't change with Lebron.

Bosh is literally the only Allstar Lebron has caused to shoot more perimeter shots. And Bosh himself said he was tired of posting up all the time and now is a more deadly offensive threat due to his 3pt shooting. He should thank Lebron.

Educate yourself next time.
