Bobby Portis - steal?

I think bulls made a great draft pick, even a steal with Bobby Portis.

Guy looks ready for NBA and can contribute big, he is skilled and looks smooth on the floor.


Last game: 20 Points, 11 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 1 Assist, 8/12 Shooting, 2/2 Threes in 30 minutes.


Only problem: Bulls are stacked with big men: Pau, Nicola, Joakim, Taj, Bobby


I wonder what Hoibergs rotation will look like.

It's easy to see he's a legit NBA player even if it's preseason. He has to maintain good defense, and I'm confident he'll be a solid two-way player. Plus he is a gamer on the court.

Really like him (not because of preseason but because I think he has tools that translate - height, shooting, rebounding).

I think he'll be solid although as you said the Bulls may not be the best place for him to get playing time...

I've seen every single college game and some high school games he's played in. Insane motor, insane competitor. Health willing (and he's never been injured to this point), he'll be a 15-year pro. High-end role player with potential to be more. Funky-looking shot but he can shoot it out to college 3-point range. Long and wiry-strong. He'll sell-out for the team like a classic hustle/role player but he has a lot of talent. And playing in Arkansas' full-court, switching defensive press gave him two years of experience guarding practically every position. Not saying he's a lockdown defender, because he isn't, but he probably guard the 3-5 position in the NBA at an adequate level. It will be hard for the Bulls to keep him off the court as a rookie.

this should be a good starting lineup...and you still have an OK bench to fill in for these guys. I expect them finish top 4 in the East when all's said and done.

This was the name mentioned immediately as a steal of a pick when the draft ended. I'm not an expert on the Bulls but the Bulls have a lot of depth at Bobbys position already but he couldn't be passed up at that spot in the draft.

I know I was shocked the C's passed on Portis. The only thing I can think is that they had a promise to Rozier.
