There is actually a very good thread about Lebron not being able to outplay pippen in any scenario. Several arguments were made on both sides but in the end it was agreed that Pippen would have come out on top.

You can do the same with older players as well.
For example, reading certain posts around here, you'll often get the impression that...

Wilt Chamberlain was a 60s DeAndre Jordan
Bob Cousy was Delly without the hustle
Jerry West was Luke Ridnour (if he could only dribble with his right hand)
Larry Bird was Kyle Singler
Magic Johnson Boris Diaw with worse point guard skills
etc.
It's almost like a magic trick.
