This Huertas guy I thought was going to be some euro scrub but gawtdamn hes pulling off some Nash moves the past few games. Guy can ball. He'll be running that Lakers second unit nicely.

He's basically a healthy version of Steve Nash.
Hopefully he doesn't collapse/buckle while carrying his own luggage like Nash did.

Dude plays under control on offense but not sure how they'll hide him on defense. Lol

his best years behind him

at 32 years old? shocking...

The guy knows now to run an offense. Not the quickest guy on the floor, but knows exactly how to use screens in the pnr and bases all his decisions on what the defense gives him. Russel should/will learn a lot from this guy.

Lakers 2nd unit should be fun to watch. Huertas surrounded by shooters in Lou and Young, a great pick and pop player in bass, and a hard screen and roller in black.

Last night his defense was fine, better than Russ's D.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well he's controlling the pace. He is much needed on the second unit, especially with shooters like Young and LouWill.

Sad to say, but he's playing better than Russell. :banghead:

thats to be expected of a point guard thats been playing professionally for over a decade.

There's a huge learning curve for PG's in the NBA (or any other league for that matter), so a guy like huertas, who has similar strengths as russel, is a perfect mentor for him

Euroleague

He's been a Euroleague scrub basically for the last 2 years and just like that turns into prime Nash in the NBA.

My God the NBA is horrible. It's even worse than the Eurocup, the league level below Euroleague.

Huertas could not play like that in any decent European league, in ANY game, including preseason.

The NBA has officially been proven and exposed as a complete joke and definitely much worse than the Euroleague.

Huertas is basically a bum in Euroleague.

No one would even sign the guy. Even Prigioni was freaking better before he came to the NBA as an old man.

Players like Teodosic and Spanoulis would average 25/10 in the NBA.

no pun intended

Can anyone elaborate on his defense?

He's been considered the worst defender at either guard position in Euroleague for about the last 5-6 years.

Which means he will probably be called "a good defender" in NBA.

NBA only fans have no idea what a joke the NBA has now become to every basketball fan in Europe, when someone like Huertas can just carve up NBA defense like that.

Huertas was not even a top 20 PG in Euroleague, and probably not even a top 50 PG in Europe overall.

He would average at least 25/10 in the NBA, and probably more like 28/12.

Same with Teodosic.

These players are 50 times better than Huertas.

Sorry lemme rephrase that.

You didn't answer the question.

Spanoulis played in the NBA. How come he didn't average 25 and 10...? :confusedshrug:

He obviously saw how pathetic the level of the NBA is and felt sorry for the players in it. He's a very humble and modest guy. He clearly didn't want to destroy Americans on their native land. He's just much too classy of a guy.

So, in one offseason, they got the second coming of Steve Nash, the #1 pick in the draft, Roy Hibbert, the reigning 6MOY, Bass, MWP, etc.

This team should have NO problem getting a top 4 seed in the West. No problem whatsoever. No excuses.

It would be PERFECT if Marcelo friken Huertas was MEXICAN.

Minnesota is irrelevant to me. The franchise, state, people, players, everything.

My point is still valid.

watching for years playing for Brazil national team, it's really weak defensively, but puts more effort that a guy like calderon for example.

He can be the Leader the team is looking for.. The Lakers have plenty of scoring talent and he is an Old School PT GUARD.. If the Lakers are healthy they come in with plenty of talent to shock people this season...
