View Full Version : 20 Years with The Lakers: Countdown to Kobe's retirement.

Most likely destined for another cloudy Laker season, I thought it's the perfect time to make a retirement thread for Kobe's pending last season in the purple and gold and perhaps the league.

I know he's caught a lot of hate these past few years, but let's celebrate the high points of Bryant's career and his failures of course. What made him so dynamic and yet at the same time polarizing?

I hate him so take my comments with a kilogram of salt;

Kobe is polarizing and has many haters because he packs a massive dick. You guys seriously think the average young american male is that ethical about cheating? The hate is not about the Colorado incident, don't fool yourselves....It's about being jelaous of another man's dick, period

In what concerns to basketball itself, the man won 5.... 2 of them with the weakest cast a superstar ever had for a championship run, what else can be said?. 81 pts in one game too. Top 5 GOAT.

Man I am going to miss this brother when he retires. Kobe and KG, are my two favorite players of the post-Jordan era players. To answer the question, what made him so dynamic and yet at the same time polarizing?

What made him so dynamic was the fact that he played without fear and his high degree of confidence. He never got caught up in the media or fans calling him selfish or cocky . I mean think about that Utah series (1996-97) playoff season, when he threw up four air balls. Most rookies would have folded during the off season and go into a shell. Not my boy Kobe! In the following season (1998) Kobe was the 3rd leading scorer on the Lakers. Plus, Kobe waved off HOF Karl Malone in the All-Star game!

Karl Malone tried to set a screen for Kobe during an All-Star (1998) game and Kobe waved Karl's screen off. Now that is some major stones!! Here was Kobe, 13th pick in the NBA, all of 18-19 years old, waving off future Hall of Famer Karl Malone!!

Stuff like that made Kobe both dynamic and polarizing. Fans, media critics, and NBA legends wanted Kobe to be your typical rookie. Come in screw up and struggle, which Kobe did, and not say much. Folks wanted Kobe to be meek. But oh boy!! Not Kobe. He was confident and fearless. He wasn't worried if you liked or hated him. His only mission was to become one of the Greatest NBA players. Use his talent to over achieve. He wasn't cool with just being on an NBA roster. He wanted to become GREAT. Become better at his craft. And he did.

Bravo, Kobe. If this is the end. Bravo :applause: Thank you for 20 years of great shots, championships, and fearless basketball.

Feeny, you been talking about nothing about Kobe for the last 24 hours.

You have no job, no life. I went to work and came back and you're STILL here talking about a man who's in his 20th year in the league, near retirement. Virgin, Jobless, still live with your Mother and and you sleep in a tool shed in Wyoming. Kill yourself bruh.
